    Default Eclipse (not Mitsubishi)

Anyone live in the 100% zone of the upcoming solar eclipse ?
If so, what kind of hype or anticipation is there regarding crowd size ?
Egghead folk are saying the path of 100% eclipse is only a 70 mile wide strip from Oregon to South Carolina.
I'm at 79% and thinking of a road trip.

90% here in NC. No crowds here. Just a cooler and some lawn chairs.

I'm just east of Nashville, not far from 100%. It is shaping up to be crazy. News reports every day on TV, hotels full, etc. Even reports such as the state highway department and highway patrol having a plan to have as many people/vehicles on the road as possible, to deal with expected crush of "visitors." Of course it could just be a tempest in a teapot with respect to tourists and their behavior. I plan to just experience it from my yard.

It's 79% down here near San Francisco, you might be 97%.

I would have to go to Lincoln, which is about a 30 minute drive SW to see the 100% eclipse. Seems like a long drive for a 1.5 minute event.....

My wife drives an Eclipse Spyder as her DD....and I absolutely hate it!! The doors are a major "poke in the face" trap as you climb in if the windows are down with the static triangle window at the front pointing right at you! Man...did I mention how much I hate that car?!

HAHA! That reminded me of the Honda Civic Del Sol's back in the day. Numerous eyes were gouged getting in and out of them because of the stupid triangle window at the front of the door.

It's a wonder we haven't seen a class action lawsuit on daytime tv against them and the windows.

25 miles south of St. Louis here. We'll have 100% for two and a half minutes.

I'm waiting for the end of the world. Just not sure if I need special tennis shoes or a glass of kool-ade.

We are expecting 2 minutes plus here.

I've been watching the reports for Madras, Oregon which is about 3 hours north of me. My in-laws live about 15 minutes from there and they said that the local PD has warned everyone to plan on the worst case scenario. Stoxk up on food / water and stay home. Farmers are renting out their fields for campers, porta-potties delivered, etc. Most stores have ordered up 3 weeks of food/water and they plan to sell it all in 3 days. EMTs, hospitals, etc. are planning to be overrun with tourists needing help.

It should be entertaining to watch from 3 hours away. I'm just going to see what happens at my place and go from there.

Madras is about 8 hours north of me (on a normal day). The town website says $50 will get a 10' x 20' spot to park (and Port-O-San access!).

Yes actually. My fiancee's mom lives in Kirkwood and we'll be there. I can work from home, thankfully.

There are no hotels available anywhere in the city from what I've heard. (Obviously not "no hotels" meaning none at all, but you get what I mean.)

I'm a Police Officer just outside St. Louis and we've heard nothing about any mass hysteria, but if you read the Internet, specifically Facebook, the world is ending. I'm on midnights that day so I'll be at home to watch it, then go back to bed.

At this point in time, Nebraska has banned all oversized semi loads from the state's roads August 18-22. Guess they are expecting billions of visitors coming in for the eclipse.
