Years ago I put 4:10's in my 82 GT. When I switched to the 8.8 I went with 3.73.

The 4:10 I had were Strange brand:

I've used FRPP and Richmond Gears on my Cobra and 69 mach1, but Strange will do just fine

Doing anything to a 7.5" axle is throwing good money after bad. Find an 8.8" with a 4.10 set in it or get a stocker and do the gears yourself with a modified clutch stacking order.

with your setup 3.73s would do much better 4.10 is just alittle to big for a street cruiser

For 200RPM difference at 50 MPH, go with 4.10s. You said "street"cruiser...... not highway. I love mine.
84 Cougar, 90 HO with 700DP, Edelbrock RPM intake, 1.7 RRs, shorty's and SS exh, T-5, KC clutch, Hurst pro billet, line loc, 8.8, 4.10s, suspension mods....blah, blah, blah.

    71 Comet, 289, Liberty TL, 9", 6.00s, 11.9x @ 112.... blah, blah, blah.
