Be aware that the early FOXs used 2 different steering rack mounting setups. Early cars had bushings with steel bushings pressed into the rack, secured by a pair of large bolts (15/16" bolt heads), and the K member just had 2 holes for the bolts to go thru. The later (82-3 maybe?) K members used a pair of hollow tubes welded to the K member to locate the rack, and used much smaller bolts. They also had 2 split rubber bushings per rack mounting hole, that simply slipped into either side of the rack. So to install an early rack in a later car requires removing the pressed in bushings and using the split bushings. I am not sure if you could just remove the steel sleeves from the pressed style bushing, or not. Also make sure you get the splined flange that connects the manual rack to the steering column, as the splined diameter of the manual rack is considerably smaller than a power rack. Or buy an aftermarket steering shaft for a manual rack application.

Early cars used 16mm bolts with sleeves welded into the k-member. These were from 1979-9/1984.

Later cars used 12mm bolts with sleeves that protruded out of the k-member. These were from 9/84 to 2004.

The last time I bought a rebuilt rack, it came with both styles of bushings.

I put an 80 manual rack on an 87. I had to remove the original bushings and use the split bushings from the 87. Seemed to bolt up fine otherwise.
