Did factory ball joint on early foxes ever have zerk/grease fittings? My 83 has them in the bj, and I am just trying to determine whether their factory or have been replaced. I don't think they should have been replacements because the car only has 90,000 miles when I bought it.

I am am planning on replacing with ford SN95 low friction units as recommended by maximum motorsports. So I know how to press in a ball joint, but maximum motorsports ball joint install tips mention "taking steps to displace metal" to ensure a good press fit, and say you only need a couple thousandths. What could they mean I should do by this?
