    Default Ill fitting hood scoop

As I'm fitting the scoop to my hood I am seeing a gap between the hood and the scoop with the bolts in. To my knowledge the bottom of the scoop looks original. I'm thinking about drilling the holes bigger so the studs go through the hood and using hvac box to firewall nuts to hold it tight... or using some sort of sealant between the two. Or pull the studs out of the scoop and trim down the bosses.Any ideas?

Prior to the last time I repainted I noted some gaps at the front between the scoop and the hood. This was after doing the bodywork on the hood. Rather than rework the hood I shaved a little of the fibreglass down on the sides of the scoop with a file and paper. It was not that much and was spread along majority portions of the length nearer the back. Not like divots or arches. It worked for me.

For your case is the stud flange holding it up and preventing the sides from making contact with the hood? Can you remove the stud and file a bit off the boss and reinstall?

    Got a picture?

Size: 78.0 KBboom! I think maybe remove the studs and shave down the bosses. This hood too has had some work but now appears to be straight

Did you try to actually snug up all the nuts on the scoop. I wondering if it the sheet metal will simply pull up tight to the bottom of the scoop.

Yes they are snug. I'm gonna work the hood I bit more, and file the edges of the scoop a tad

    Had a similar situation.
Front studs stripped out of the scoop.
Scoop was lifting a bit over say 40 mph.
Black RTV helped seal it until better repair was made.

Only way to get any of them out is to take off the scoop.
Hopefully the other studs/nuts will come off without stripping.

If the nuts are rusted/frozen, the studs will not come off the hood without additional destruction due to the 'stop'.
'Stop'= referring to the washer like part of the stud.
They keep the stud from pulling down thru the hood.

That type stud is used by Ford elseware on the car.

Fixed with larger size hardware without the 'stop' in the middle.
It is on tight with no gaps or mods needed.
I used the stainless version with stainless nuts.
