Default Which rear end is this? 7.5 or 8.8?

Hi guys, new member here with a 1985 Mustang GT. Was interested in trying to make more horsepower, but I've heard that the stock 7.5 inch rear end is very weak. I was planning to swap in an 8.8 from a newer fox, but when I looked under my car to look at my rear, it actually looks like an 8.8 to me... just looking to confirm my suspicions. Would be a great surprise if it really is an 8.8.

Thanks that definitely helps. Not sure why the pics posted sideways like that. Looking straight on, it does look like the 8.8. Anyone elses continued input is welcome!

    8.8" FOR SURE.

7.5” rear ends have two flat sides and two rounded sides. They are 9-3/4 " wide.

The 8.8” rear end has four flat sides, and is 11" wide...a big difference in size, not so much in shape.
