I can't seem to find anything about muffler temperatures on Google. Does anyone know what the average temperature of a muffler is? I would like to paint mine with a clear ceramic paint, but it is only rated to 500*F.

Depends a lot upon several factors.
how lean does the car run
headers or not
cats or not
outside temps
etc.
Saw this on a jeep forum
Thanks for the replies. I guess I won't be using the clear.

I'm sure there are some good coatings for that kind of thing. Maybe check Eastwood but otherwise ceramic is the only thing I can think of that would be durable enough.
