Thread: thread sealant

    Default thread sealant

    Greetings:

Just wondering what everyone uses. I need to replace the ACT sensor and the temp sender in the intake of the 86 and want to make sure I have no leaks. The new parts arrived today. Both are factory and both have the threads coated red. Do I need any sealer? The shop manual says to make sure the temp sender is coated with electrically conductive sealer. The threads on the intake have been cleaned out as well. Thanks.

Same as the prop/drive shaft bolts, they come from FoMoCo pre-coated.

Great. Thought that might be the case. Thanks much!

Forgot to ask about one more item. The heater pipes that run along the edge of the intake- I cleaned the threads both on the pipe fitting and the intake. Is thermostat gasket RTV a good idea for these threads? Or just tighten them up. Thanks everyone.
