Motorsport Aircleaner Lid

I recently bought some parts from a guy that had a 85 GT back in the day. Main reason I bought this stuff was for this lid. Had another deal that fell through for a set of Motorsport valve covers to go with the lid.

Curious if anyone has had one of these rechromed? The chrome is very thin around the recessed area and the hood insulation has worn it off on the leading edge.

They are around. I think it would be cheaper to buy a mint one than have that chromed. I am not sure if it is the same in every state but here in MA the restrictions are crazy so the few chromers left get big $$ for everything. I wonder how good one would look powder coated????

Dude I saw one at a local show about a year ago for $100. It was used but in cleanable useable condition. Had I know the true value of it I would have bought it. Once again hind sight is 20/20

Yeah, there was one for sale at Carlisle last week, used for $100. Glad I got mine when I did many years ago.

Guess I didn't realize they were worth that kind of $. Suppose I should leave it like it is and just polish it up.

Heck yea. Clean it good with soap and water and break out the blue magic metal polish and have at it. It looks pretty good already in the pic.

I have a N.O.S. one and to be honest the chrome was never that good on them to begin with.

It's in nice shape other than the chrome being thin. Need to find a set of the aluminum motorsport valve covers now.
