    Default Alignment Specs

    Guys,

I just had new struts, springs, LCA's, sway bar bushings, end links installed on my project 86 GT. The alignment shop said he couldn't get the alignment perfect and I might need to take the car to a frame shop. The ride height in the front seems pretty high. I realize it might take some time to settle. Driving it on the way home it seemed to wander just a bit and has me thinking something might not be exactly right. I'll include the printout of the alignment, let me know what you guys think.

Did you let all your new suspension parts settle before you cranked the bolts down. Like bolts loose not falling out and cycle the suspension a few times. Tighten them up with the weight on the wheels. There is a fair amount of movement in the k member too, which may help. Frame machine seems a bit harsh. It would also be nice to see the rear nunbers

I had needed alignment specs for a stock Fox car last year and got good information in this thread I started: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...ight=82gtforme

I did the work myself in my own garage. I have a little of it here: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthre...=1#post1798247

Good luck, hopefully you can get it okay without major work.

I didn't put the suspension parts on, but I bet you are right they cranked down the bolts while it was still up in the air. I'm going to try loosening everything up and put weight on it and then torque it down.

Yeah you need way more caster.

The big mismatch in camber (with positive camber on one side - yuck!), the big mismatch in caster, and the insufficent amount of caster will all lead to wandering.
