    Default Starter on inline 6

    Hi my fairmont didn't come with a starter. I was looking for one but saw Two types : 4 inch and 4-1/2 inch casing how do I know which I need? Car is a 1981 fairmont with the 3.3 engine and a auto transmission (still have to find out which)

    Shorter 4" E1BF -1131-BA casing starter to clear the big light off cat.


    Really wired integrated solenoid design. Theres just no room for anything else

    Hi thanks for the respond. So it's about the lenght of the starter. I though it had something to do with the diameter.

    maybee it does...Ive not checked. Just got the part number for you if its high mount starter with C4 or C3 trans.

    A lot was going on after 3/1/1981, they went to a lock up clutch C5 auto which needed a low mount starter after that point, generally 1982 model year, 1982 -1983, same starter as C5 or AOD 5.0/4.2. E25F-11001-AA E25Y-11002-A E25Z-11002-A

    The traditional high mount C4's with the PEB code and small 132 teeth flexplate for a time,

    or the high mount starter BV code C3 and small 132 teeth flexplate were still being made right till 1983.

    E1BF 11131 BA is same as Bosch SR549N.

    SO i tried on a Remy 97132 (after my first failed attempt) thought it to be the same as the BOSCH SR549N http://www.remyautoparts.com/find-a-...93/SR549N.aspx
    it didn't fit, the actuator for the starter gear hits the engine...
    plzzz help anyone

    so i found the correct starter, its a REMY 25064 (4 1/2" casing)

    the main difference is the position of the drive actuator. hope this info might help others

    Oh dear....you were able to get a refund and the right part.

    Is the info I gave you wrong for your C3 transission car?
