Cylinder head casting numbers

Where do i looking for casting numbers on cylinder heads for a 82 302 ? Thanks

casting plant, date code, and shift code are under valve cover
engineering number is on bottom side of intake port #2/#7

A D9AE 6049 AA head casting has

Since we are doing 1982 heads.




It has an internal CF 5 78 BK8 casting.

Would have been cast in Cleveland on the 1982 October 8th.

None of the other date code conventions make any sense at all to me. What am I doing wrong?.

As far as I'm aware, the engineering number/"casting" number for 1979-84 5.0L head should be D80E.

BK8 = 1981 October 8th

Perfectly correct for a 1982 model year head.

I have a few other things to check.

It might be D8...haven't checked again with the owner for the 7/2 port casting detail.

I just assumed* that since the D90E-6015-E3A Z engine it was off was likely to be post 78, the heads would be as well.



B K 8 might be a 6 K 8, its hard to tell.

I blew that picture up and took a closer look at it, seems like it says 8K9 . Not sure if that means anything

Acording to FoxChassios, DE is also a common pre 1984 head casting number...potentially used on 5.0 and 5.8's from sometime in 1978 to the 1984 model year.
