I cleaned up and sanded the hatch today. It’s one of the only panels that’s original to the car and I’m happy that it’s repairable.
The inside of the hatch.
The outside.
Turned out great, what's left to do from a metal work standpoint?

Since it’s raining out, I epoxy primed the hatch.
Now that fall arrived, I started working on the body work again.
The weather
The hatch
The hood was in good shape and am pleased with the amount of bodywork that it required.
The fender was new and needed a bit of work at the tip from shipping.
Now all I have left is final bodywork and the soft parts....
Another fine daw of freezing rain. I spent most of the day working on the rear floor board under the rear seat.
Almost ready for primer.
Well I found a little more work on the floorboards. Today I worked on the passenger floors and tomorrow the drivers side if all goes well.
Today I completed the floorboard repairs on the drivers side.
I hope this is the last surprise for this car.
The broken section had been repaired previously
A repair patch should keep it from cracking again
Happy thanksgiving to all of the fellow Canadians out there.
Thanks and same back. We had our family dinner yesterday, I'll be working tomorrow.Happy thanksgiving to all of the fellow Canadians out there.
Our son is here from the U of A and I won’t work on it until the weekend.
Family is important too.
I finished cleaning up the floors and decided to use rubberized undercoating similar to what was used from the factory. I think I’m still stoned even though I used a 1/2 mask....

I hope you like the music.
I purchased a new scroll compressor from Eastwood. It’s amazing how quiet it is and hope it lasts. Has anyone else purchased one?
I’ve worked with Copeland scrolls before but these are a knock off brand.
If anyone has any experience I’d like to hear it.
Working in the garage today and it was amazingly quiet, let’s jist hope it lasts.
Still working on the car.
I worked on the rear spoiler on the weekend.
I started stripping the rear bumper. These are getting hard to find and while it’s not in terrible condition, it has quite a bit of paint on it and will need a lot of work.
I will try stripping it with paint stripper for soft bumpers. It works but it’s slow and painful. Wish me luck.

Cougman,
Nice job so far. I don't know how I have missed your posts on this project.
I can tell you are motivated to do it right.
I too, have owned my 79 Cobra for a very long time, and have a sentimenal attachment to the car.
No one goes through an in depth restoration like this, unless there is a true love for the car.
We know, we will spend way more money than the car will ever be worth.
The investment in time and man hours can't really be accurately measured.
I have been through almost all the repairs you have done, and then some, so I know.
Keep at it, you are doing an excellent job.
If I can help you in any way, please let me know.
Kirk
Hi Kirk, I’ve been watching your post as well. It’s one of the bigger jobs I’ve tackled.
I took today off and worked on the front of the car and the rear bumper. Progress so far:
My son helped make a rail to block overspray in the garage.
Unfortunately I can’t post any more pictures, I’ve exceeded the quota.
Is there anything I can do?
