I received an email from TMI. The broken English says they SHOULD fit. They offered to install them, I guess they don’t realize I live in Canada. I responded that if they pay for shipping of everything, I’m more than happy to do so.

Let’s wait and see if I spent $2000 for nothing.

Yeah. The slight low spot is what I noticed too.
I have the factory shop manual and it sorta shows the hose routing. The fronts are weird. I dont know if I'm gonna try that route

I don’t know if it’s any different than the original ones. It might have had low spots originally.

Congrats on getting the Pace Car into paint. That's a huge step and it looks great!

I bought the TMI kit for my PC (covers and front seat foam). I installed them myself with little difficulty. They are a lot of work.

Mind you that I bought my kit probably 3 years ago....

Thanks for the reply. Was you material installed incorrectly like mine was as well?

I noticed your upholstery is incorrectly fabricated. If you look at the fabric on the back, it’s supposed to be the same plane. Yours is vertical and horizontal.

They are not reproduced to my knowledge. Ford did away with them after a few years into Fox production. A good used set if probably your best option. Good Luck!

Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly I never compared the new covers against the old ones...

I had another upholstery person to look at the seat covers today. He showed me some real weak points to theses seat covers. The top French seam is decorative only and not a proper design. He also said he will double stitch the bottom of the vinyl to keep the seams from ripping. Add that to the fact they don’t fit and the fact the upholstery is installed incorrectly, I think we overpaid for these.

This break has allowed me to install most of the exterior parts. The biggest challenge was installing the front air dam. I installed the side skirts first, only to remove them for installing the front section. I then installed the air dam bracket to the bumper, wrong move. Finally I found a way to install the air dam and bracket at the same time.

Looking great! Maybe I'll get to see it in person one day. I swear I do not recall ever seeing a Pace Car in person before.

I don't think I have either. Sounds like a good excuse for a meet up.

The Pace Car is coming along. I love the post-paint re-assembly process. Feels like you're in the home stretch...

Well it seems like it’s one step forward and two steps back. I’ve been tracing my fog light wiring to understand why they don’t work. I found some wiring und the dash that wasn’t correct and tried to modify the fog lights to work without the headlights. After fixing the wiring and fixing the ground wire, the foglight switch light came on. I then checked the power to the fog lights and it indicated 12 volts. All should be good but no luck. I checked the Running lights from the battery and they worked. The relay worked so I was stumped. I then disconnected the last section of wires from the lights to the fender and connected a fog light there. It worked and it now seems as though the last section of wiring is damaged.

It looks like I’m going to have to repair it before installing the fog lights.

All of this because I need to pass a safety inspection

Was the car registered in Alberta before it was parked? If it was, you may not need an inspection to register it again. My 79 was a local car and when I went in to inquire about getting a plate for it, there was no need for an inspection since I had the last Alberta registration for it from 28 years before. They put the number into the system, it came up in the files and they issued a me a new plate. It seemed silly, but I wasn't going to argue. The funny part was my wife had bought a dealer demo car from BC the year before and even though it was virtually brand new with only 3000 kms, it had to have an OOP inspection to register it. Nobody said government bureaucracy was logical.

The car is from Saskatchewan and hasn’t been registered in Alberta previously. When I had the Capri rs inspection done, it was one of the failed items on it. While it seems silly, it’s a requirement so I had them remove them and it passed.

I can’t find a good reproduction set for the car. I suspect that it’s a weak point on the fog lights.

I spent a good part of the day working on the fog lights. I rewired the fog lights and it still didn’t work. After more diagnosis I found the culprit. It was the connection to the main harness.

All of the wiring in the last section was in terrible condition.

Nice work, the fog lights on my 79 PC haven't worked in decades. I just keep the white covers on them....
