I would like to install my McLeod clutch today and I am a little worried about the pilot bushing that they supplied. It seems to be the right dimensions however it’s a bushing as a post to needle bearing. I’m debating whether I purchase a new one tomorrow or not can you and has the advice please let me know.Name: 56CD54E0-4429-4D2B-BCA2-51ADF3C65AF0.jpg

I installed the spacer plate and flywheel tonight. A few things i found:

    1. The new bolts that came with the clutch do not fit. I don’t know why, they might be metric?
    2. I have a newer torque wrench that is way out of calibration. It is a westward brand and when I tried to torque my flywheel bolts, it seemed to be too easy. I then used my old snap on torque wrench only to find they were very different.

I found out there are two, bolt sizes on the flywheel, one for a special racing clutch and one set for my clutch so all is good.

I used blue loctite instead of red and hope it is sufficient.

The engine install went easy, the transmission was a little more difficult.

To get the transmission bolted up, I had someone press the clutch in until I cold get it it the last inch.

I also noticed the cable is tight and the adjustment is as short as possible.

I installed the headers and spark plugs. I will need to get a spark plug socket, the one I have is too thick for the heads.

Looking good! Things are coming together nicely. Wish I could say the same for ANY of my projects.

Thanks everyone, I can’t seem to get my spark plug socket to work with my dart heads. If anyone has some insight for me, it would be appreciated.

In a pinch, buy a cheap deep well socket. If it still won't fit, put it on a drill and rotate it against a bench grinder to thin it down.

I’ve slowly been working on the wiring for my car. The crate engine came with a ready to run distributor with no brand name. It turns out they purchase them from msd units without the tach wire. Doing so makes sure you buy an msd 6AL for the EFI. I couldn’t find a good location for the 6AL (not supposed to put it in glove box) so I fabricated a plate to put it where it is now. The work seems to be going well and scares me because I know something bad always occurs with me and wiring.

The fuel pump instructions clearly state that the pump must be as low as possible to the bottom of the tank and within 3’. There isn’t much available near the tank in a fox body so I improvised. I welded 1/4” studs to the tank straps and had. 1/8” thick aluminium plate cut to fit my car. It didn’t turn out too bad, let’s hope it lasts.

Wires? well my capri had all the wires hacked out when I found it. 3 different year harness were used, converted to mass air, from the 86 dash I converted to a 88 dash... then spending almost $400.00 on a rebuilt A9 ECU.... now that was scary! lol I was done and I sat there for 2 weeks staring at it......so then I said OH F-it! hooked up the battery turned the key (pump works) turn to start and it cranked and started! a little twist for timing and it purrs like a cat. (mind you that it had no engine or trans when I found it so I bought a 94 gt parts car for everything that I needed)Name: thumbnail (3).jpg

Thanks for the comments all. Your right, things were going smoothly until I tried to install the March brackets. Low and behold ATK sold me a complete engine with fox oil pan and the old style water pump.

    Wonderful.
