Default Color of '85 '86 side molding GT emblems?

I thought most of these were white, but looking at pics on the net, most look like charcoal grey and the molding looks black. I thought all the molding was charcoal grey. The molding on my car is black, but the car has been re-painted and I figured the owner preferred black. My embossed GT does indeed look charcoal grey. My car is white and bought some white GT decals I was going to use and am now curious what the GT letters were from the factory. I do have some Ford '86 and '86 brochures where the letters look white. Thanks for any info.

The OEM GT quarter moldings had the embossed GT molded in color. The color is a light grey or a silverish grey to contrast with the charcoal grey of the trim moldings. The GT was not white, although it might appear that way in some photos depending on the lighting and angle.

Many people today will use the decals to recolor the GT embossing to either match the vehicle color or a nice contrasting color to make the GT really 'Pop', either way looks good as does the OEM color. Do what you like best since it is your car.

Mine is a little beat up from 440K+ miles of service, but it's correct for 85-86 GT.

The embossed GT is a silver color. When I repainted my car I had them mask that off to keep original color given it is molded to the back of that piece of trim. Good thing I went over at key points because they originally did not have it masked off. The trim is charcoal gray as is the lower portion of a 2 tone car like mine...along with other trim pieces. If you do a search I did extensive research to get that factory shade of charcoal gray given I had some trim pieces from an 86 vert that were put away out of the sun in covered storage in 1986 until 2011 when I went through the car.

Put the white GT decals on, like a lot, remember car is white. Yes, the GT emblem really "pops", much more noticeable and does look good. These cars have dark molding on them, dark headlight buckets, hood stripe, and I think more white to break up some of that looks good. I also have black louvers. I'll try to post some pics. Thanks to everyone for replying.
