Default A Few Pics of my 13k Mile 86 T-Top GT

It's finally spring here in Michigan and I was able to get the car out of storage for a little drive and get it ready for this year's round of upgrades/modifications etc. I'm sure I'll be asked why tear into such a low mileage car so I'll save you the trouble and answer by saying....life is short and IMO there's no better platform to build from These are a few pics from a couple weeks ago before the car went to the paint shop to have all the body moldings color matched, the hood decal removed (hood repainted if necessary), license plate holes smoothed and get a full polish. I'll also be refinishing the 17" pony wheels satin black when the car gets back. It's a 1D Smoke grey car fwiw
Built motor, H/C/I blower car. It drives like a 13k mile car....just with 550rwhp PS awesome site with awesome cars everyone!

    With chrome 10th's

Very kind thank you! Can't wait to get it back from paint so I can roll the rear fenders, beat the inners with a BFH and cram the brand new 315 NT05R drag radials I have in there! Wide tires with slender rear bumpers FTW!!

Surprised to see the manual steering conversion. How does that drive? I know a lot of track people do that but this appears to be more street oriented. Just curious. Great looking car.

Pulling in and out of parking spaces takes some extra bicep but I find the steering response at speed to feel far more responsive. You get a lot of feedback when cornering and I tend to prefer that. For a daily driver...power steering all day long

Thank you gentleman. Very much appreciated. I agree about the wheels btw with that said I still have both sets and I actually intend to refinish the pony wheels in the next week or so. Most likely in satin black but definitely in a more contrasting color. Since the car will have a monochromatic body it will need contrast indeed. Imo it's too nice of a car for chrome though. Polished yes, chrome...I think I can do better. Just my $.02 anyhow

hey thanks! As a matter of fact I just picked up the car yesterday from having some subtle yet IMO sleek paintwork done. Purists....might want to step out for a sec lol

    What was done:
-All body moldings body color matched (Front and rear bumpers removed and sprayed)
-front license plate mounting holes filled
-Hood decal removed....ended up having to re-spray the entire hood since the decal could not be removed without damage to the finish.
-Was going to have the emblems shaved but changed my mind (hence no emblems in the pics....they will be re-installed)

was almost $2k when said and done but matching any silver/grey metallic correctly...let alone 30 years old is not a job for anyone lacking real experience. I wanted to ensure I didn't damage the overall value of the car during this process. The paint matches wonderfully so I'm confident I accomplished that. I know it seems silly to spend the money to make such a subtle change but I've ALWAYS preferred the 92+ monochromatic fox bodies by a long shot over the 91 and prior. Much cleaner overall look IMO

PS I changed the wheels to satin black and I still hate the look so I'm going back with the 10th anny wheels....this time in matte metallic silver. I thought black would give the car a stealth bomber look but it ended up looking cheap The 315 NT05R's still look killer though

A couple quick shots (that's reflection on the front molding in the first couple pics....sorry, I couldn't get out of the way lol)

I like the mono-color with the mouldings. I'm with you on that, both my blue and red car will be that way.

    Btchin' car brother, nice job.

Your car car makes me think I want to keep the porno red in my red car.

I'd trailer a car down to have you paint it without hesitation after seeing your work Dave. And dare I say that red interiors are making a comeback.....seriously....look at the trend in new cars in the last 3-5 years. IMO as long as it's super clean.....any interior can look nice

Your car came out great. But I will say, it's the dark decals and contrasting moldings/headlight buckets that draw me to the four eyes over the aero cars.
