    Interesting reading.
The black valve covers look just right in this car.

A section of gutter guard mesh, zip tied across and behind that lower bumper intake, keeps road debris from dinging cooling fins.

Have a 2v Holley with annular boosters, manual choke, on the stock 2.3T. Engine drives same or better than the stock carbs did.
May be a psychological but adds a high performance type feel. As before, rarely need any choke to start or when warming up.
Pulls very smooth even from a low rpm and when in a higher gear than normally used. Fuel econ is same or better.

Sounds like a full modding schedule! The USB ports look like they came there! I may be swiping that idea... lol

Thanks, guys! Hopefully I'm not being too optimistic and can get the majority of this stuff accomplished.

Yeah, need to give some thought on what to do with the lower openings in the bumper. Have to add that to the list.

This particular USB port I liked because it had an aluminum body. It also has a digital voltage display in between the ports which I don't really need, but whatever, another way to monitor my battery. I purchased a couple others previously, but they were all plastic and didn't look quite as nice. The USB port took a bit of work to fit in there. I had to enlarge the opening in the ash tray panel and turn down the OD of the USB port face flange. If I remember correctly, the hole in the panel was about 7/8" and the threads on the USB port were not quite 1" (probably metric - 24-25mm). Precariously drilled out the hole with a 1" hole saw in my drill press. A burr in a die grinder or dremel probably would've been safer. I have a small lathe I was able to chuck the USB port in to turn the flange down with.

Another item I forgot to mention - battery tray replacement.

My original has been broken and hanging on by one bolt for quite awhile. My friend who I obtained the cruise control parts from also found me a good replacement in his stash. Gave it a good scrubbing and repaired a few areas where the plastic was flaking and exposing the reinforcing fibers then shot it with some black paint. Should work. Ready to go in, will swap it out soon.

Did the annular booster upgrade on my 3310. Have only done some basic tuning so far, but dropped 5 jet sizes from the original straight boosters. Haven't gotten into timing, air bleed or emulsion adjustments, but seems to be driving well enough as is.

Knocking stuff of my To-Do list. Replacement radiator and cruise control reinstall up next.

Nice job Thomas! I hope it runs great when you're done with the super tune!

A few years ago I had bought a QFT 650 SS (mech secs) with annular boosters. The driveability of the 4180 sold me on the idea. Eventually will install and pair with a Weiand 7515 on a set of FRPP X307's.

So.....getting a bit distracted from my original project list. Adding to it, I guess.

Been kind of looking into doing this for awhile, then these fell in my lap. A buddy pulled these off his car so I decided to grab them. Going to clean them up, paint them, and order the mounting kit soon.

Yes, sir. Hoping to get them cleaned and painted over the next week or so. Going to make masks to add the COBRA & Brembo logos. Probably going to order the mounting kit this weekend. Plan to do the Taurus calipers on the rear also.

    There! That looks better!

Received the mounting kit a few days ago. Going to give the paint a few more days to cure before installing. Plan to order new front rotors and rear calipers soon. Hoping to have these installed in a couple weeks.

Damn, it took me a long time to install a set of calipers! The ATS Brembos are on now though (and functional). May was a busy month. Went for a quick test drive last night and pleased with the outcome so far. After reading more on the swap, I decided against installing the Taurus rear calipers. Apparently the bias works out to be within a few tenths of a percent difference with the Cobra rear calipers, at least on new edge Cobras. Haven't really looked into bias numbers for the fox brakes, but my car drove well enough with the '03-04 Cobra setup that I didn't think there would be an issue. Will get some better pics soon.

One thing that took extra time was deciding to get my cruise control servo reinstalled while I was in the fender well. The weather boot was installed, wires spliced back together, and cable and vacuum hose routed after photo was taken. I just need to reinstall the amplifier module under the dash and check my speed sensor wiring and I should have a functioning cruise control system again. One step closer.

No problem. This something you're thinking of doing? If you've already done the SN95 brake swap it's a pretty straight-forward and inexpensive swap to gain a pair of brembos. As mentioned above, I picked these calipers up from a friend, but they're available from Rockauto or other places for about $140 per caliper. I also bought the mounting kit (threaded bushings/rotor spacer) from S&S Engineering. Turned and reused my existing Cobra rotors. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Got a bit done over the weekend.

For whatever reason, during the last couple times I took my car out, the coolant temps were running warm. I mentioned previously it would do this when air temps where high, but it hasn't quite been that hot here yet. Either way, it spurred me on to get my radiator swapped out. Replaced the single-row 1" core parts-store crap with a 2-row 1 1/2" core ebay special.

Also gave her that much needed bath and spent quite a bit of time cleaning under the hood. Not spotless, but got rid of much of the general road grunge. Looks a lot better.

    Car looks really nice Thomas!

I'm always interested in brake parts mixing and matching and getting others feedback. Have you done any spirited braking with the new setup?

I have a kit from foxbodybrakes.com that requires mods to the Aero style spindle, uses a hub and fits a 13" Cobra set up that I haven't installed yet but it should allow for anything that a SN spindle swap would. I was thinking about going with Brembos instead of the Cobra calipers when I finally get to installing it. I have Turbo Coupe/'93 Cobra rear calipers/North Racecars brackets on it now with an adjustable prop valve and Aero spindles with 73mm front calipers, the old MM slotted rotors/pads front upgrade, and a 1" bore MC from a Ranchero, stock booster. It's a firm, short pedal and I know it will feel different when I do the swap with whatever calipers.

    Thanks!

It is interesting seeing what parts can be interchanged for inexpensive upgrades. I'm curious if some of the OE 6-piston caliper setups could be adapted to work.

Haven't gone and horsed around with it too much yet, but have done some hard stop to bed pads. Really like the pedal feel now and feel like it does stop noticeably better. Whether good or bad I can actually lock the fronts up now. Never could do that with the PBR Cobras. Pedal was hard and short before with the Cobras, like yours.

Not sure how the ATS calipers would bias out with the rears you have now. The bias calculator I've seen doesn't include that setup. They seem to pair well with the SN Cobra rears.
