    Default Former Lurker Intro

    Hi all,

My name is Thomas. Been lurking here for a long time, finally decided to sign up. This site has provided me with a lot of information and inspiration over the years.

As for my car, I have an '85 GT 5-speed. My father bought it slightly used around '87 or so. It was his daily, to/from work, racking up about 300k miles. I've owned the car for about the last 15 years and is now my semi-garage queen, fair-weather driver. I started the modding/restoring process in 2006. Worked on it quite a bit until 2011/12 when I got married and decided to have a mess of kids. I'm still working on it when time and money allow, just not as much as I'd like.

Have a fairly significant mod list including:
    - SN95 5-Lug/Cobra Brakes, '03 Cobra Wheels
    - 8.8" Swap w/ 3.55's
    - MM Subframes, CC Plates, K-Member Brace, Strut-Tower Brace, Torque Arm, Panhard Bar
    - H&R Springs, Bilstein Struts/Shocks
    - Fordstrokers 347 w/ AFR 185's, 10.5 CR, Custom Billet Cam, PP Crosswind Intake, Holley 670cfm, BBK Equal-length Header, H-pipe, Flowmasters

Future plans are to rewire the entire car, possibly make the jump to fuel-injection, finish sprucing up the interior, and (hopefully) purchase and install a T-56 kit.

Look forward to spending some time here on the forum and getting to know everyone.

Welcome to the site, Thomas. Sharp car!
You might reconsider jumping to injection if you give that 347 more than a 600 to work with.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the compliments. I'll post more pictures soon, probably start a build thread.

Walking-Tall - I've been reading some of your carb tuning/rebuild posts, seems you're the Holley guru around here. Wondering if you wouldn't mind me picking your brain?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Thank you for reading. I wouldn't say the Holley guru, lol. I know my way around them, and have learned more in depth about them and how to go about shooting for dialing in best function, in say the last year or two. Though, there's a number of knowledgeable people around this place, and I think I can speak for most here that brain-picking is absolutely welcome.

Welcome Thomas. Having more kids improves the IQ gene pool, only if the father has a Fox....

wt = Mike, he does strange and wonderfull things with junkyard parts, a brace of 6/32 hex blanking bolts, drills, and a boat load of Technicians smarts.

with real world examples and show and tell diagrams

he is the enternally humble Canuck

    we have proof below...

Welcome. Nice car, good build. Just FYI and IMO, after having a T56 and an Astro A5 , I'll take the Astro. Lighter and easier, and I found the double OD redundant, so the 6 speed is cool for cool factor only.
83 Mustang GT , A5 5 speed, 31 spline Cobra rear, LMR TRX, 302 11r 190 heads, Buddy Rawls custom cam

For the record, I haven't been in a junkyard since sometime in the 90's... back when I had to educate the fellows at that place (that actually still hung onto some older stuff in the yard, a rarity nowadays for sure) that if they had a V8 Fairmont or something else like that, that those block brackets and mounts and oil pan and pickup etc would work for me with my evil and unheard-of-ever-before plans for my 1980 Capri to sport a 302 for motor-vation, lol
