    Default LMR TRX-style wheels . . . in gold.

LMR now sells TRX-style wheels which are affordable and non-metric . . . no more $450/each tires for folks who want to keep the original look of their Foxes. The only problem for me was that they only sell them in silver, and the stock Black Magic wheels are gold. The solution was to Plasti-Dip them, as they make a color that is reasonably close, at a fair price. (Pardon the bad lighting; I installed the wheels/tires tonight and was excited to get a photo.)

Look great, can you explain "Plasti-dip" is it a coating or a paint finish?
People who say it cannot be done should not get in the way of the people doing it!

It is a plastic coating. If you do not like it, you can peel it off. As a result, it does not have the staying power of paint and can be rubbed off, but it looks pretty good if you are careful with it. I will be the first to say that I have zero skills in this department, so you will see the Plasti-dip version of orange peel and other imperfections on mine if you see it up close.

Hi, thanks for that, seems to be some strange stuff does it stay on if you wash your wheels?

I'll bet its amber tool diping plastic, Crocell Super SH-25, used for machining tools (my best friend is a Fitter/Turner, and used that stuff for his brass machining tools). Awesome stuff.

Sorry about evil English and non constitutional metric...

Strippable plastic coating provides 100% coverage and protects against corrosion and impacts. The component protected can be easily identified through the translucent coating. The removed protective dip can be reused. Never directly apply heat to melt the protective dip, always use with a suitable melting pot. SH25 Amber colour. Working temperature 130°C to 160°C.

No, it's PlastiDip, which comes in a lot more than 2 different colors. Rustoleum makes their own version, which they call FlexiDip.

Tons of information and examples of PlastiDip use on www.dipyourcar.com (including a section dedicated to dipping your wheels). It used to be pretty basic stuff, but in recent years the stuff has become more popular and they've expanded what you can do with it - lots more colors, metallic effects, etc.

I doubt that it would tolerate a high pressure sprayer, but a simple washing is fine so far.

Plastidip, is for all intents and purposes spray on vinyl rubber. It provides the absolute best protection against anything, as it's an actual physical layer. The stuff is extremely sticky, and only comes off if you scrape it off. Once it's on there, it's on there.

Been using the stuff since they first introduced it, and the product has only gotten better. Think of it like a flexible spray on bondo, that looks nice. It doesn't feel nice however, running your hand over a surface with dip on it, you can instantly tell.

It will take a pressure washing, as long as you keep the angle straight on. But really if that much crap got into the dip that you need to pressure wash, just pull the dip off and put new stuff on. It's easier.
