Default Help with 84 GT Vac Hoses

I tried the Facebook group this weekend while working in the garage but didn't get the help I was after. Can anyone tell me (or show me with some good pictures) where the hose sticking up in the middle of this picture should go? It is off the orange fitting at the back of the intake, with a vac tree that is not connected to anything. I've been told temp controlled vac advance, but the vac advance is hooked up at the dizzy to the front of the carb, and the other vac adv hoses appear to be hooked up to the green fitting just behind the orange one in this pic. I have NOTHING in the engine bay that hose appear to go to.

The hose with the red stripe goes to the bottom of the air intake assemble.

I'm of no real help here as my 84 has had most of that removed. In fact I have a random horseshoe looking thing there.

My 84 GT 5 speed is pretty original. I will try to get out and look tomorrow unless someone posts an answer before then.

I hope this helps Jason. On my car the manifold vacuum fitting has two ports on it. One goes over to the orange tree and that is what you are looking for. In your picture the hose is in the perfect position to block the view of the manifold vacuum fitting. One of the lines runs from the orange tree to vacuum advance. The other line goes to what I would have to believe is timed vacuum port at the base of the carb. I have several more pics if you need more.

Awesome...thanks Jim! I think some stuff may be missing on this car after seeing this. Can you tell me where the other two black with yellow stripe hoses go off that orange tree? Does one go to the front port of the carb and the other go to the distributor vac advance? And if so which port (bottom or middle) goes to which one?

Comparing yours and Jim's pictures it looks like its not hooked to anything so there is no vacuum leak. Looks like it used to go to a T (as in Jim's picture) that a PO has eliminated that fed that temperature controlled vacuum switch.

Did your car have cruise? I assume Jim's does as did the 83 vert I stripped that had that connector but unfortunately I didn't take pics of that when I was disassembling.

Yes, that is where they are going. I believe that the bottom one went to distributor vac advance and the middle one went to front port, left of the PCV port on the carb. This is a cc car with factory carb.

This car is a non-cruise car. It still has the factory 4bbl and the vacuum hose off the dizzy is going to the front port of the carb....so I think it is jacked up. I'm going to try hooking it up correctly to the orange tree and if that fixes my problem. The car starts and runs great for the first 5-10 mins...then when warmed up it runs at low throttle like it is missing a cylinder. Get into it a bit and it seems to run fine.

Thanks for those links...good reads! Learned a lot about how this system was meant to function. Looks like I need to buy some vacuum hose and get it put back correctly based on what I see above in Jim's picture.

BIG THANKS to Jim!!! I bought some vac tubing yesterday, hooked up the tree and vac adv tubes according to Jim's pic above and BINGO! The car now runs great both cold and warm, all throttle positions and idles nice after the choke kicks open. Thanks again Jim, and thank Mick for the good reads above.

This car is now done (save for some polishing on the paint) and ready to get out of my garage and sold. Once I have it cleaned up and photographed I will post a FS ad in the classifieds.
