    Default Black rocker option

Question about black rockers, specifically for '83, but interested in other years as well; were they available on any model? GT specific? My '83 GT has/had them, but I'm curious if they found on any other trim levels.

My first car was an 83 Mustang GL that had the black rockers. Also on the SVO's just shorter because of the rear spats. Not sure on the rest.

Ok, this question will show the true level of my ignorance; I'm actually not sure I understand what this option really is. My initial assumption was this is two tone paint, with the area below the body moulding painted black. However, further investigation makes me believe it's only the actual rocker panels below the door sills, painted the same satin black as the other trim.

So, experts, which is it? Please educate this ignorant old fool.

For Salted Road states with certian DSO's, there was a Road Abrasion Package and rocker paint are different, but look the same...

    1982-84 GT/Turbo GT = paint
all others, including SVO = molding

Not sure about 1982-83 RS/Turbo RS but I know 1984 had tri-color stripes (silver, yellow, orange) instead.

1983 GT/Turbo GT was the only year to have a buck tag code for the painted rocker, even on units with lower tu-tone.

There was also a "bright" rocker molding and it had a code every year it was available.

Ah, ok... So lower two tone is separate from the black rocker? Two tone would have a double paint code?

My paint code is 9D Polar White, on both the door and buck tags, and the buck tag shows BR for the rockers.

Yup, they look the same, but the base of the underneath of the car is coated with whatever they did to cover it.

    A gray undersealant, basically.

    A non Road Abrasion car.
    Line D in build sheet.

On the Buck Tag, no RA code.

Canadian, RA code "abbrasion" as an extra in the build and buck tag details...

Yeah, I am familiar with road abrasion coatings. My car does not have that option. My question is specifically about two tone paint vs black rocker.

Tu-tone paint cars had two paint codes on the door tag, except 1979, buck tag, build sheet, and owner card. Then 1983 GT/Turbo GT also had BR code.

    Example: http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?81218

From 1979 through 1984 lower tu-tone cars had 1C on door tag, except 1979, build sheet, and owner card, and TT on buck tag.
In 1985 the code was XP on door/build/owner and TT on buck.
In 1986 the code was 71 on door/build/owner and TT on buck.

Got it, thanks! So my car is mono tone white with black rocker panels. Excellent!

Oh, and all these questions stem from the fact that my car currently wears a very tired medium red repaint, with black rattle can highlights...
