Default Non A/C Power Steering Bracket

My 83 GT 5.0 has dealer installed ac and I'd like to convert it back to a non ac car. Is the power steering pump bracket different for non ac cars that moves the pump up higher, or did they just use an idler pulley in place of the ac compressor on these older fox's?

I know on the newer 5.0 cars, Ford sold an a/c eliminator kit that had a bracket and pulley to eliminate the compressor, but those were for cars originally equipped with factory AC.

Without a/c the ps was up high on the drivers side of the engine. Here are the brackets:

The LRS-8511a seems to be the best price.

If stock look doesn't matter, I like this style https://www.summitracing.com/parts/m...view/make/ford puts the pump much lower. The factory setup has it way up high.

The Summit bracket works for 302 or 351. Thats one benefit. Ford Racing does make the steel bracket for a 351 but you would still need the aluminum one that goes to the head from the A50 kit. Which one did you end up going with?

Does the Ford kit also require a 85-93 power steering pump bracket? It says it only works with 85-93 cars and mine is an 83. I like how the March kit looks like it replaces the factory pump bracket and relocates it at the same time. I might go with that one.

Yeah I think you'll have to change out the cast bracket to the later model bracket. Might be just as easy to grab a replacement pump and bracket on the classifieds to ease install. The march bracket or copies are a cheap alternative and have a clean look. Good Luck with the swap.

I'd definitely rather have the correct bracket for my 83. I'll send you a text. Thank you.
