    Default Hood Release Handle Broke

The handle broke off and I am using a pair of pliers to pull on stub the open the hood.
Does anyone make a repair kit?
I would hate to have to replace the entire cable assembly.

Welcome to the 'off the handle' club, RD
    Mine broke 10/23/14
The T part, even with end of cable. Plastic stub on cable end remains.
The hood latch and cable work fine due to regular maintenance.

Bought a rubber lawnmower starter pull handle
Attached with short piece of rope and hose clamp.
    Hung down a bit
Worked for a while. Rope broke.
    Steel cable may work better.
The hose clamp is still on and kind of works fine to grip with fingers.
Actually is easier to grip than it was.
Repair is not really a priority anymore except for looks.
Bought some time to think it over.

Have some concern as to the connection at the hood latch.
What if it comes loose or something after a maybe botched repair?
May think out an emergency release of some sort first.

Bought a 15.00 multi handle repair kit from the auto store.
One of the handles may work but yet to try.
To do this, the remaining plastic stub has to be removed.
Prob is, i think holes need to be drilled in the cable end for roll pins.
Botch that and it for sure is new cable time.
May have wasted money except it provides alternative thinking for a solution.

The factory handle always seemed too small and close to dash.
So far, have had no problems pulling on it with the hose clamp on the broken plastic stub.

    Possible?
Big snowblower starter pull D handle.
Nylon or leather strap? Key chain type.
    Drawer pull knob?
    Garage door T handle?
    Old style choke knob?
    Truck air brake/parking knob?
    T handle tap wrench?
Tap the plastic stub with threads and screw a knob of choice on it?

Anything that sticks out a little further from the dash cover.

The attachment point or method inside on the stub is key.
Would rather leave the stub on for now and work with it.
Replacing the whole assy is the real solution.

It sounds like a repair is uncharted waters.
They say necessity is the mother of invention.
I may have to get the Yankee ingenuity up and running and create a solution?

There is an easy trick to popping these hoods without needing to get in the car to pull the handle. I don't physically know how but I'm sure some in here do...my Fox Saleen buddies do it all the time. You can reach into the front opening of the grill and grab the cable at the latch release. This of course is not physically possible on all Fox Mustangs depending on the year/nose. Not sure if they are simply twisting or pulling on it...but I've watched them pop them many times with minimal effort.

I cut my cable off and created a loop that hangs down behind the license plate. Works like a champ. I don't know if I will ever bother fixing the hood cable. If I do, I will definitely keep my loop hooked up too. Very handy!

some cable outers are not secured. If you reach through the grill and pull them the cable slides and the handle inside holds the inner in place so the ultimately this creates similar forces and hood has no choice but to pop. Also not a terrible setup. Except I've had my cable come off using that trick on a rigged cable.
