I use plastic garbage bags to help reduce friction. Just make sure you position the bag so it can be pulled out once you get the upholstery in position.

Here is an example, I always use the disposable bags on various parts of reassembly. The side bolster on my pace car Recaro seat is a PITA to install, but the bag allows it to slide into place. Once it's good, simply pull the bag out. It may take a few tries, but you'll get the hang of it.

I turned the material inside out and worked it on from the top down.

Yeah they are tough for sure , The old material I took off has no backing on it , But the new upholstery has a backing on it , Witch makes it real tough to get on . I did manage to get one on , But getting it back together is another question lol .

I paid extra for them to embroidery the Mustang in the head rest and I was afraid I was going to tear it in trying to get it on...

That was the problem I had. The foam backing on the new covers made it very, very difficult. The first one was he toughest, but once you figure it out, the second is much easier. He way I solved it was to take the uncovered headrest, place one end on the floor and push down on the other end to compress the headrest foam as much as I could to get the cover on. I wish that I'd thought about the plastic bag method...it would have made it much easier.

Maybe try it like this using a bag and vacuum.
