    Default Ripped seat mount

Who has ran into this, and how did you fix it? Long story short, showing off in front of a friend, and all of a sudden I fell into the back seat. I honestly forgot I did this until my carpet removal 20 years later. I repaired it at the time with a thick piece of plate steel with a bolt in it, and shoved it down into the tear. I'd just weld a thicker gauge metal plate over it.

That's the way I was leaning. No pun intended. Do a plate that covers both, say 1/8", and do both sides. That way both seats are lifted the same.

I had an identical problem on my 89 convertible. One too many hard 1-2 shifts I guess.

I tried the whole welding thing and broke it a second time. The floorpan was simply crap in this particular car.

I bolted several pieces of predrilled thick metal banding straps to a piece of angle iron. My seat bolt head was a caridge bolt head and sandwiched between the stack and the last layer of the stack. I got everything bolted together in the channel and tightened it up. Worked great every day, I eventually sold the car with this mod in place.

What do the rear seat mounts look like? If the floor is torn on the back mounts, it would likely stress the front mount and cause the result you have.

Yeah, I've heard it said that a might welder can make anyone a welder... clearly not true
