Default 1985 SVO turbo in a 1984 LTD wagon

New to this forum: I just purchased a 1984 LTD II wagon (roller). I have a 1985 SVO with good running gear but the body is a rust bucket and past the point of no return. I'm thinking of using everything from the dash forward (dash, wiring, pedals, trans, engine, etc.) from the SVO and turning the wagon into a LTD/SVO. Ideas and suggestions anyone?

EDIT. I kept thinking...man that looks familiar until you said it. If also appears to have a lot of decal residue left on it too. Plus the windshield banner matches this one EXACTLY. I guess it is a MAC car

My car is an 85. I believe the Mac car was an 84.The 85 is a 9L white car but the front frame rails are completely rusted thru along with rust in many more places.

FYI - Mark Haas has both Mac Tool SVO's so this one was a fake....

Go for it, a turbo wagon would be cool....

Does the wagon have green interior? If so, i'd love to see some pics of it!

Also, project sounds sweet! Can't wait to follow it!

It has blue guts and they are almost sun faded to light gray. Lol. I'm planning to change to Dark Charcoal like SVO.

Just a quick FYI--the "small" or "baby" LTDs (or "not the LTD Crown Victoria") are NOT LTD II. The LTD II was a 1970s beast from before the Fox era.
I wanted to point that out before any of the more zealous LTD folks stopped by.

As for the project--go for it! A 2.3T/5-speed wagon sounds like a great, fun driver!

Someone on here was selling a 2.3T, LTD wagon within the last few years, and I thought it was really cool. Will be great to see yours built and driven!

Default 84 LTD Wagon with 85 SVO running gear

Ok, trying to update this thread with the latest info and pics.
Ive dropped the 4lug out of the wagon and installed the 5 lug out of the SVO. The SVO rear has brand new Konis,Hochkis control arms, and Eibach springs. The rear end went in without to much trouble and everything hooked up fine. I still have to figure how I'm going to hook up the emergency brakes and am I going to use the quad shocks on the wagon.

Get yourself some '84-89 Mark VII rear cables. They will hook right up to your stock intermediate cables like factory.

With that rear though, you'll want to either keep the SVO wheels or go to S197 wheels (45mm offset). '94-04 wheels (30mm offset) will not fit without rubbing.

Size: 88.5 KBThanks, my research had pointed me in the direction of Mark VII rear cables. Its good to hear that they will work. Also I plan on using the stock SVO wheels but really appreciate the input. I have tried to add pics showing the progress I made this week.

I put the svo rims on my wagon ....look very nice but had to put a few steering stops in as i peeled off a few wheel weights.

Next up is to remove everything under the hood and pull the dash and interior(seats and carpet). Then start with cleaning those areas and start swapping in the SVO stuff.

This is a great thread for me to follow. I picked up an 86 parts SVO a while ago that has a an intact drivetrain. One day I'll be doing the same as you!

I wish I had an 86 9L. I had an 85 9L and sold it (it was nice and I need my butt kicked for letting it get away) and have always had a fondness for 9L SVO's. If you need parts let me know as I have several parts cars.

I have a set too...hmmm. When I do the 5-lug conversion, I'll have to bolt 'em up and see how I like them.

The SVO had brand new Konis on it including the quad shocks. I can just leave them off or put them on. Since the wagon wasn't equipped for the quad shocks then I will have to put the frame mounts on. not a simple bolt on but a doable. So I guess my question to those following this thread is what do ya'll think and what are your suggestions and most of all has anyone actually done it?
