Check the connections on both ends of both cables.

Try to jump solenoid with a screwdriver

Also check if the battery drops substantially under load. Could also be a bad starter. If it is, you can usually hit it with a hammer a few times to get ya home.

Thanks how do u know if the solenoid is bad?
When I run into a problem like this , I turn the head lights on , then try to start the car.
If the lights dim way out , I clean and or replace battery cables , and try again .
If it is still the same , I try a jump , or a different battery.

You can bypass the solenoid by sticking a screwdriver across the two big post. It will eat up the finish on the screw driver, so pick one you don't like.
The clicking noise is the solenoid trying to turn on the starter. Either the battery is too low (it clicks below 8 volts, to prevent you from killing the battery completely), the starter motor is fried and taking too much juice, or the solenoid or connections are bad between the battery and starter.
