    Default cheap 86 svo

Hello my friends, the time to let go my 1986 svo has come, it used to be my daily driver but the turbo seals became an isue and i parked it.
it has been sitting in my garage for a year and a half and a month a go i try to start it but i think the fuel pump got stuck because i couldn't
here are some pics from the interior that remains the same, and a picture of the car from 3 years a go when it was my daily driver, also this are the things you want to know about my car
    good
    - all gauges work properly
    -all windows are complete
    -front seat upholstery is complete
    - it has a dash pad cover painted in svo gray, so dash looks new
    -hatchback struts work perfect
    - all headlights are there and work

    not good
    it needs a battery
it needs a fuel pump ( that i already have brand new but has to be installed)
needs turbo seals or turbo rebuild

car is not a yunk, it will be a really good and easy car to fix or for parts, it is complete!
but, i don't have a title, i believe you can get one again.
it is in mexico, in Piedras Negras Coahuila, just a cross the international bridge from eagle pass Texas, its a 3 hour drive from San Antonio Texas
    asking price $2500 oboName: 17321758_1565841600110383_877984070_n.jpg

Sorry - but get real. Nobody can get a title in their state if the paperwork is not in order in the first place.

Step one -- you need to get the title in your name.
Step two -- you need to properly complete the ownership transfer section of the title when selling the vehicle
Step three -- if the buyer is out of state you clearly will need to draw up an accurate bill of sale and have it notarized to go along with the properly signed transfer section on the title as otherwise the new owner will very likely be unable to get a title

In most states selling a car without a title or not completing the ownership transfer section is ILLEGAL! Plain and simple, it's a nonstarter. It is a form of fraud and its exceeding $500 or $1000 (depending g upon the state) and it's considered a felony. Both for the seller and the buyer. Get this solved or stop advertising your car please.

Hi, the car is registered under my name in Mexico, i live in Piedras Negras Coahuila Mexico wich is borderline with eagle pass Texas, i have been a long time member here, you can check it out, my posts are all over this site in the 2.3 turbo forums, i have a copy of the title but not the original one, as the previous owner lost it, the car is legally in Mexico and it has Mexican borderline plates,i have the exportation document.
As far as i know, you can get Texas plates again to it, i just don't know the steps to do it. if i were a us citizen living in the US, maybe all of what you say will make sense. i am, by far any reason not trying to commit fraud in here or with any of you guys.
i don't know the correct route to make transaction when buying or selling a car in other country, but i guess its almost the same as if you were buying an svo in canada, or in Europe, so, if you can help me with that i will appreciate it a lot.
but then again, if any of the administrators think i am doing something illegal please tell me and i will be glad to stop advertise my car here
P.S. i will obviously give the buyer a bill of sale

Different states have different requirements. I personally do not know what the requirements are. A few people might know what is required for their individual state. Next issue is international, which should not be a Huge issue with the proper paperwork. One would have to be extremely interested in the car to deal with any potential issues. Me, personally, I would pass on the car just due to the extra issues.

Still looks like a nice car.

    Looks like a nice car.

Original vs legal duplicate is mostly a non-issue. There can be problems if someone shows up with the original title and the ownership transfer history does not check out.

I did some research on vehicle transfer into the US when I wanted a newer than 2008 MarkLT which is only available in Mexico. What I found on recently built cars and trucks is that the first hurdle is the emissions status which is a binary thing. A vehicle is either allowed entry or it's not.

2014 Lincoln MarkLT is an example of a vehicle that would never be allowed transfer. You would have to literally swap the lincoln parts on to an F150 because emissions wise only the F150 is allowed - the lincoln would have to stay in Mexico.

SVOs were sold in the US so as long as all of the paperwork checks out it should make it across the boarder. But it is a significant amount of paperwork to bring it into the US.

If it weren't for the hassle it would be easy to sell at your asking price.

Is it possible for you or someone you know to transfer the car back into the US legally then market it with a title from one of the 50 states.

Also just an FYI you can go onto the US customs website and they have a whole section on bringing cars into the country. The first time I did it I emailed them some questions to be sure it was all good. The sad part is that when you send them an email you will get a response telling you that the reply will take
2-4 WEEKS that's right 2 to 4 weeks for a reply. So do not wait till the last minute!

You didn't research importing cars older than 25 years of age into the US though...

If the car is originally a US car and there is any paperwork at all that shows that then there will be absolutely no issue bringing it back into the country. I have done it twice. My 85 Gt was originally sold in Chicago but spent 20 years in Canada. When I went to get it I had no problem and there was next to nothing for fees. I did the same for a Chevelle that had spent most of its life in Canada but was originally sold in South Carolina. I had no title but I did have copies of the old SC registration and a few other papers. Again, no problem bringing that car in either. There are also agencies you can hire to do all the necessary work to get a car into this country. I think they charge around $400. I have never used them because I did not need to but I have a friend who has and he said everything went smooth. The car originally being from the US makes it very easy to get back in.

Car looks really nice... Turbo rebuild isn't much (About $400) and the fuel pump is an afternoon job easy. You should fix those things and ask more money. A new owner should be able to transfer it into their name if you can just come up with the Texas Title. Mucha suerte carnal!

    In this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhcGqdztWwA

It is making boost and sounds very healthy, but it's not accelerating. I think maybe the clutch is out... or the boost is leaking somewhere, maybe the intercooler hoses, intake manifold, intake gasket, throttlebody gasket, etc... Have you checked those things?

clutch was actually new at the time, i suspected the clutch cable was the problem and got a new one, just didn't get to installed it.
also, some mechanic put un the tranny #90 purple stuff and the tranny started to grind in every gear, later i found out that it has to have atf instead.
other issue with the car is that when it gets on fifth gear it loses power and stops accelerating

Did you put the manual boost control in this car?

I get that you are shifting when the boost needle peaks but the RPM's aren't high. What happens when you keep the throttle down until the RPM is closer to the red line? Is it maxing the boost gauge the whole time? Just a couple questions Rogelio.

In my SVO, when the boost comes on, the RPM come up very quickly when the boost comes on; especially in 1st and 2nd so something doesn't quite seem right.

I know you have put a lot of time, effort and love into this car so I hope you can attract serious buyer.

if i rev it to the red line boost needle stays up
i always knew the car wasn't performing as it should, all that boost that doesn't translate to the wheels was always my concern, i got a new clutch cable along with an aluminum quadrant, i just didn't go the time to put it in the car before i stopped it.

If you have a copy of the previous owner's title, perhaps you can contact them and ask them to apply for a duplicate?

Hi, i actually know the previous owner, he imported the car to mexico in 1992 or so, he lost the original title and gave me only copies.
you only need the title to import the car to mexico, once is imported, the title is not a necessary document to put a car under your name in here.
they ask for the import pediment and the state fees and thats all, maybe thats is why he didn't care to find it.

That is until you try to sell it locally. The title on the name of the person who imported it and the import document (pedimento) is what they ask as original documents whenever somebody else wants to put the car under their name. Without those its the equivalent of selling a car without an invoice...

if that was the case i wouldn´t be able to buy it 4 years a go, i do have the invoice from a local dealer ( previous owner of the car was also a used car dealer )
to put it under my name i only needed the invoice under my name and the import document.
anyway, i have decided to keep the car for a little longer.
    thanks everyone for the advice
