Default '78 Zephyr with some bolt-ons

Here is my 1978 Mercury Zephyr. I got the car for Christmas when I was 14 years old as a project. (top pic) After driving the car through high school and college, I decided to redo the entire car. Well. Life happened. It sat unfinished for close to 10 years, until I got my butt in gear. Since completion, I drive the car everywhere. This year it is getting a complete TMI Interior as well as a built AOD.

Like John Coletti said about the Terminator when it came out. "It might be somewhat like cracking eggs with a hammer but the fact is....Hammers DO crack eggs!"

Yes, it is the same garage in the background. That is where the car was built.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!

Real cool, I dig it. Probably don't need much front tires since you can't see around corners, ehh.

I'll bet it has front end plow in the snow....but when you drive a Jimmy, who cares?

My first Supercharged car experience was very late, I was 21, and a yellow 6/71 454 210 55 Coupe parked outside our flat. She says, whats that? Glimmer Belt Noise honey, and the faint sound of alloy lobes which sounds like a Pete Jackson timing gear set, only W-A-Y cooler. It was summer time (no more than 85 degrees down here), and he ran it on a blend of avagas and it was magic.

So BM, I'll ask the same question

    M11~57 asked.....

    You've had this car for 10 years,.Surely there's a story that goes w/ the pics. I mean things like: Engine/transmission/rear, electrical, Horsepower/torque...

    You know....Stuff!

That car is really great looking. And coming from one fairmont owner to another, If I would have built a P/S version, I would have done it much the same way.

Hahaha ok here is the run down. Sorry nothing super spectacular here!

    351W 30 over
    Dyers 6-71 blower 2 Holley 650 carbs
    Ported and polished heads
Built C6 (soon to be changed out for a B&M AOD unit)
Narrowed 9 inch rear Detroit Locker with 3:73 gears
Full set of Auto Meter Phantom gauges
Interior is getting redone this winter with seats from TMI
    10 point roll bar
All the work was done by me in my home garage except engine machining and paint

Sorry but the car has never been on the dyno or the track, so no crazy numbers to throw at you. The car has a ton of power, but is so easy to drive on a regular basis. I love the looks on peoples faces on the highway when I pass them at 80mph. Especially the Prius drivers...

    Any other questions just ask!
