Thumbs up BBS and other high end wheel source

When I originally picked up the HRE 504's a few years ago and was researching them, I came across a site:

    http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/index.php

This site has a wheel and tire section where people advertise complete wheels, complete sets or parting out wheels. This, to me, is a potential gold mine. After selling the HRE's to BlackMamba, I realized that I had been bitten by the bug. On this site one can easily get BBS wheels (as well as other high end) at a fraction of the cost of new. There are guys that ship WORLD-WIDE............

    Wheel and tire link: http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Wheel Hardware (lips, barrels, bolts, caps, etc) link: http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=98

    Example:

    BBS 16" 34 hole center sections (quantity of 4) anywhere from $500 - $750+

Waffle center caps can be had for, on average, $40+ each, but deals are out there.

Hex center caps, for the waffles, Are not too bad on pricing, depending on which type and rarity

Outer lips (various widths) usually go for $100 each or maybe find a deal on a pair for that price.

Inner barrels mostly run $100+ each and up.

    ALL bolt patterns, including 5 x 114.3

Once you find 16" BBS centers, you are able to go up to 17" or even 18" by using double stepped or triple stepped lips and barrels.

This is just to show that with proper planning and a little wheeling (pun intended) and dealing, high end wheels can be had at a savings, sometimes around a $1000 on average (usually having to assemble yourself....which also saves on having to ship fully assembled wheels), from new.

    Happy hunting...

It definitely helps to branch out and look beyond the Mustang or Ford community when it comes to wheels. I bought my Mustang's track wheels (a set of CCWs) off a Mitsubishi EVO forum - the EVOs run 5x114.3mm wheels, and they come from the factory with big Brembos, so they clear my Stoptech brakes just fine. The same would be true of any wheels that fit an STI, or 350/370Z (with Brembos), or G35/37 (with Brembos), etc - they're all 5x114.3mm (5x4.5") and will have good brake clearance.

The wheel hubs can be redrilled to 5 on 120, and you can use BMW 16inch BBS basketweaves - 7JXH2 diamond wheels too. They are ultra cheap.
