Starter Problems 87 Turbo Coupe

Hi new to this forum and hoping anyone can help me...
I bought a 87 tc and after i got it the new starter it already had would work 5 or 6 times then make spinning noises no start, found out starter had broken mounting ear, replaced starter, work good 5 or 6 times then same symptoms starter bendix not engaging and discovered once again starter mounting ear broken again?
Consistent symptoms are starter operates at first, then after a few starts grinding and eventually just the spinning noise and broken mounting ear.
Any ideas?
The bendix thing seems to be a power issue but the breaking mount sounds like a whole different issue yet they occur in sequence: starter works, then grinds, then seems not to engage flywheel?!

Not a lot that can cause the mounting ears breaking , other than not seating the starter completely before tightening it down .
