Default TRX's on the 83 plus other wheels and pics with 84

So I decided the TRX's would be better suited on the 83 and Boy was I right. I love them. Here's all the different wheels me and the PO have had on.

Figured it was such a nice day we'd get both of them out.

Are those original TRX's, or the ones from LMR? I really dig those, nice choice

They're the LMR's. I bought them a few weeks ago for the vert, but decided they would look better on the83

I love seeing people put TRX wheels back on their cars. LMRS was very smart in manufacturing a non metric version that's affordable. A pity that Coker Tire didn't recognize the market demand and made their repro tires more affordable.

Anyways, I know what I'm saving some money for...

Both of your cars look terrific!

    Thanks.

Back in the day I thought all TRX's needed to be replaced with 10 holes. Now looking at these I have to wonder, what was I thinking?

Looks absolutely awesome and what size tire did you go with? Has anyone tried a 245 or 255 on the rear with these wheels? Total sleeper wheel now.

    Thanks.

I went 225 55 16 . I like running the same size all around, and I know 245's will rub up front.

I have B springs in the rear, I'll install the front as soon as I have any reason to get into the front end. But if you look in the early pics you can see it always seemed to sit a little high in the rear. I should be happy if they drop the front a 1/2in.

The 10-holes are nice as well as the 14-inch 16-holes like I have are also nice alternatives. I think what sets the TRXs apart is the depth of the wheel. It has a very pronounced lip around the edge while all of the other factory wheels are fairly flat in appearance.

I'm running 245/50/16 all the way around on my '83 with "B" springs, and the only rubbing is at extreme turn. A set of rack limiters would take care of it easily.

You know I guess I haven't had 245's on a stock width rim. The Cobra's above have 245's, but they are a 8in rim. They rub quite a bit. As much as the rack limiters wouldn't be bad if I wasn't used to not having them, my vert has the later front suspension with them and it trips me up all the time, I just can't seem to hit the parking places, lol..

It's the same thing as a pony wheel, it just looks different. Literally 1,000s of people run 245s on those. Really a 245 is too wide for a 7 inch rim though.

Thanks . I like the Wagon Wheels , too. They've got me locked in to very few brake upgrades because I want the ability to run them, though now with the TRX's I could probably get away with the total stock vibe and bigger brakes if I wanted. I'm not sure I could find 14in tires these days if I ever wore those out.

The TRX really is a good looking wheel on the earlier cars. Aside from the Weld wheels they're my pic, lol, I'm still a sucker for Welds on a Fox, they take me back about 16 years!

Duh, I don't know why I didn't put 2&2 together with the pony wheels. Heck, I used to run a 255/50 drag radial on my 93 GT.

Your 83 looks great with the TRX package.

TRX for the win! Although both the 14" (16 hole rims) and Ponys look good too. Those 14s look real nice with rwl tires. I positively hate 10 holes on anything other than a clean, original 85-86 GT.

I would love to work out a deal for your 16 holes for my Dominator, , trade my Weld Pro Stars?

Maybe. Send me a pm with some pics. I was wanting to keep them for a stock look, but I think the TRX's cover that.

Sure I'd work out something to get some proper wheels on that car. That thing looks good, hopefully you'll have it at some of the gatherings this Summer.
