    Default Need more info...

Looking to possibly joining the Predator crowd but have some questions...

What was the build process...were the just pulled from dealer inventory and "kitted or converted" as needed? As from what I can find nothing from the manufacturer states them being so.

What about the cars from other DSO's other than KC or Dallas? What was there build process...in house at sellng dealer?

VINS...can a car be documented by this alone?

Tag numbers...were they random or consecutive? And will this tell what VIN it's attached to?

Just wanting to get as much info about them before spending time the money. I still see these a "dealer conversion" much like they do with vans or trucks.

All the Predators were Tagged with a Solomon American Tag number. A registry exists of all the VINs and their corresponding tag numbers. There were two manufacturing facilities. One in Topeka Kansas and one in Dallas Texas. I believe most cars were picked up from dealerships and converted in those two locations and returned to Dealerships.

I will let others chime in with more specifics. That is as much as I know.

All tags are consecutive. They start at 0101 and go from there with the exception of at least the first 7 of 1984 which started at 101. For instance, mine is #4S102. If you look in the registry here http://foxchassis.com/fep/registry/predator/ it shows the Predators that are currently known to be registered. Orlando has the complete registry with vins matching up with the tag numbers. dlgourn on this site has a lot of information regarding these cars as he restores them. Did you find one that you are going to buy or just in the market? If so, what is the tag number?

Always looking for something and stumble or as these things (odd cars/etc) find me all the time. I'm more so just wanting to know exactly the how they were processed and built,etc...factory specialty foxes SSP,SVO's etc are easy to document or trace with Vins, bucktags, build sheets etc... being "Factory builds" and that info is easy and readily available. Mclearn and Saleens (early cars may different as that's not my focus right now) and we know how the process of how they were assembled after leaving the factory...buck tags/build sheets etc...making documenting these as this info is also readily available. Just trying to get as much info as I can on the in and outs, how's and whys, just stuff.

Yep these are fully documented on which ones are actual Predators. Not many of them left anymore though as only a little under 300 were made. Dominators are also a similar type of build. A lot less dominators were made though.
