Default Releasing a bottomed out Weidmuller crimping tool

Red Line Weidmuller 25Z crimping tool #904047

I've used the wrong 6 mm crimping hole while crimping an Andersons SB50 block connector. It cannot crimp down any further, and I need four to make a connection real quick to power up my 1000 watt car power inverter safely so I can use it as a data logger....

The US versions 25D4 et al, are pretty much the same, only orange with a US specfic code number.

How do I release the pawl mechanism?

Its fitted with a stop for accurate crimping. I guess i can take the screw off, and undo the postive stop adjustment, but I dont wanna wreck it because its borrowed off my electrician brother in law. Who is away at the moment, dissaembiling a saw mill 250 miles north of me.

I have an Amp super crimp which looks the same. Let me see if I can find it.

If it is stuck while crimped the little metal tab near the hand grips will release the jaws from a "crimped" state. You either have to push the tab up or down. Use the shaft of a screwdriver or something as it may be hard to move/release.

Dean , do you see the tab in the pic that your holding it in you left hand?
There is a tap on the inside of the opposite handle, that is a release lever.
You may have to pull it tighter some to unlock it.
Kind of like rocking a dragster's reverse gear.

Agree about trying the tab. Similar to an old Jackall jack or lever pulley. Not that I have ever used that tool, but the two I mentioned need to have the tension taken off the pawl to release it. You may need to partially squeeze to do that.

    Good luck!

Thanks guys. As you said, it was.....

I have a 15 hour drive time today, so got a scheduled 24 hour rest period yesterday, so I knew I'd be able to unlock the pawl if I just relaxed and networked a little. . Just didn't want to do a stuipid 11 hour mistake when I had no extra ferrules and connectors left, so I though it better to ask.
