FYI the BBK is hard to find. I have the 87-93 version in my 88 (pic below) and when I contacted BBK about it they said they made only 500 of each version 79-86 87-93.

I have only seen a couple of the BBK ones, the 79-86 dont match the other gauges as well as the later ones. I didnt realize the 82 police speedo was a one year only option. The one in my 82 is an FMS one with the green. Wasnt sure on the 83-86 unit until I did a little more research on an SSP site. The other 140 is going in an 84 GT that I bought as a roller. These gauges are getting harder and harder to find, I would think someone would make a nice reproduction by now, not just some overlays. I think the original gauges are silk screened. Thanks for the comments.

Size: 114.0 KBVery nice! My stash is not nearly so impressive. I do have an 84 model year 140 that mostly matches my 86. I prefer the motorsports gauge but haven't found one in a long time. My good friend has an 86 with a BBK 170 in it. They effectively did a 50% under-drive and layed out the 170 numbering. No reason it couldn't be labeled all the way out to 210 much the way the stock 85 is sometimes marked to 105.

It it would be very nice to be able to get everything to make a tired old cluster appear new.

Size: 64.4 KBThe BBK looks practically identical to the overlay on my 85 Saleen speedo. Unfortunately Saleen used a sticker overlay and mine has a wrinkle it.

One thing I hadnt noticed was how the needle on the tach and factory 85 lay down at the same angle when shut off parked. The 140's start up higher but sweep farther. Same goes for the tachs, 6000 and 7000 tachs have the same sweep but the graduations are closer together on the 7000. Its interesting that the SVO speedometer is just like the motorsport speedometer but without the numbers after 85. Just shows how Ford combined parts for different applications.

I had a BBK 170 mph speedo. I sent in a original 85 mph speedo so they could turn it into the 170. After two months of phone calls back and forth I finally got the 170 mph speedo. I installed it into the car and the speedo was junk. The needle would sweep back and forth and you never knew how fast you were going. I finally threw it away. Never bought another thing from BBK. Everything I have seen from them is not very good quality.

Yikes!!! Thats a pretty bad experience. I had one done years ago for my Dads Grand National. Took it to a local speedometer shop who recalibrated it and it worked great. I have had other mustang ones done and had bouncy needles but I attributed it more to a bad cable than the speedometer itself.

Hey 306gt how did you end up at 337 cubes, is that .060" over with 3.25" stroke? Runs good to be in the low 11's without a power adder.
