I've been hitting the usual spots now for a few years always on the lookout for that diamond in the rough. Is it just me, or are there fewer foxes out there, and even fewer unmolested? Then the crap that is out there is priced way too high?

Yep, and its only going to get worse. The same thing happened to the hot rod guys and then the muscle car guys, and now us.

They dried up around here about 4-5 years ago. They used to be around everywhere. I actually saw a 87-88 vert on my way to work this morning. It was in pretty rough shape. My daughter saw it first. The first thing I said to her was, Boy you don't see those around anymore. She agreed.
I used to come across parts cars all the time. Not anymore. The junk guys seem to get them all now because of the price of steel these days. No body lets them sit in their yard anymore.

1986 G.T. (Son's car) (12.99-105 mph)
There is a 86 coupe, 4 cyl that has a supposedly rebuilt, un installed eng thats a nice car . its near me and no one wants it, 400 bucks.

I got an 81 sitting in my yard just waiting to get the motor fixed. Maybe I'll hang on to it for a while after that too.

Still see em around these parts but there were alot to start with, however it is dwindling and you don't see alot, like you used to.
Whens the last time you saw a turbo 80s Mopar Shelby Charger, Daytona Z, or GLH, Shadow ES Turbo? Escort GT Turbo or EXP Turbo Coupe? Even in the summer.. around here??? Nada... GNs are out in nice weather...
I think i'm one of the only SVOs in my immediate area.
1985 T Bird Turbo Coupe
12.26 @ 113 MPH on old <small> turbo and head on 26 psi. Stock short block, 3.73s, T5, lots of bolt ons, A237, stock EEC. Now: BIG turbo, and new fully ported [by me] stock valve head. 11.50s spring for sure.
84 SVO - $1400 in mods, 11.81@ 116 MPH, 1.58 60'. - back to stock, sold
1989 S-10 - my DD
people just seem to be hoarding them now. buddy of mine in the last month has bought two 85 GTs (one is a parts car though), and is looking at more. it is 100% true though that it's hard to find an unmolested example w/out paying out the nose.
1985 Mustang 5.0 coupe - dad's

I don't know guys, I think there's still a few out there to pic from. Now if you're speaking specifically about 4-eyes - yeah they ARE hard to come by. I loked for 2-3 months and couldn't find a 5.0 5 speed hatcback 85-86 car that was within a 150 mile radius. If I did find one it needed way more work than I was willing to put into it. I was even willing to spend as high as $5k. I really didn't want to deal with transporting a car and all that jazz.
So finally I found a pretty good deal. It's not a 4-eye but still a really clean Scarlet Red '88 GT 5.0 5 Speed with 97,000 original miles and 99% stock for $3700! Attached to this post is a side view pic the second day I had it. I have done a ton of work to her in the past 3-4 weeks. I will have updated pics on my Fquick page. This car is really tight.
I already have the 85 Notch so I really wanted a hatch. LX or GT it didn't matter. I would have loved to have found an '86 GT in as good a condition as this '88 for $3700 but I'm really happy with this GT.

[QUOTE=GT350R;463329]Start saving. I will sell you the rarest coupe there is.
Its the driving cars that are gone. It seemed like there were so many because the commmuter cars were still on the road. Now, the only ones left are the garaged cars that only come out on weekends.[/QUO
If only I could find an affordable SS coupe.

The nice cars are getting hard to find here in AZ where they were pretty popular. A co-worker of mine has been looking for a clean 79-93 for months, hasn't found one that didn't have problems that he is too lazy to deal with (such as no smog equipment) or have never had nitrous through them.
Marc aka tripice351. 84.5 GT-350 2.3T.. and now, 1982 GL coupe.
Even in the wrecking yards here, I'm begining to see more Sn95 Mustangs and it's rare to find a '79-'83 Mustang. Last year I found bunches and even a few Fairmonts.
Today, I saw an '83 GT hatch in good condition running on the street. Sounds like the guy modded it a bit too.

Unfortunately, they're extremely hard to find in Mustang Monthly now. With the new ones out, we've been forgotten.

I looked for a good 10-11 months before I finally found my 80 Ghia. All of the foxes i looked at were eaither heavily modded, abused or way too expensive. i ended up having to settle with six cylinders instead of eight but i still love what i ended up with.

You guys really need to come to Cali... you'd probably find a nice survivor and drive her home for not that much money.

not around here, i can name 12-13 4 eyed foxes that can be had for under 500, most under 200 and one at 800(capri 5.0, has 82GT front end style), so yeah check out the small towns, drive those hillbilly back roads and look in back yards, ford made so many fox body's they'll never really "go away" luckily

There's a lot of garbage out there, but the nice, obtainable, cars are getting few & far between.
It's like everything other car from the time period. They all rust and wear out. The ones that are survivors now are the ones that had a catastrophic failure years ago and they've been sitting in garages, or ones that have been preserved. Ten years ago you could find virtually any 80's V8 RWD car you wanted. Now most have been through the ringer, many have been parted out, or abandoned... I'd say there are still plenty left though, and at some point the decline will level out as people start to notice they're getting rare.
