Default 1983 MUSTANG GT Factory T-TOP Car (Project) Columbia, SC

This car has been sitting for 15 years. I have a clear title for the car. It needs most of it's interior, Outer Dash and Gauge Cluster. Rear glass is busted, I have a spare, body is straight and it is a 4spd car, the brakes work, the trans is good, the engine is locked up. It has an unknown model holley double pumper, aftermarket intake, carb spacer and headers. I'm gonna put last call out on the car! If I can get 800 for it, I will send it on out, if not sadly I will be parting it out. I would prefer to sell it whole, 800 is the best price I can do on it. Thanks everyone who provided information on this post!

    Who deleted my post?
This is a photo of the exact car when it was listed on the Columbia SC Craigslist on 12/11. I know because I inquired about the car, the asking price was $450. Then it resurfaced last week on the Florence SC Craigslist for $1000 and then was deleted and now is posted here. Just thought our members should know....Again just saying. If the admin has an issue with my post then please contact me and let me know what I wrote that was against the terms of the site. Thanks

Tough crowd, lol. Yes the car was orginally listed N2MUSTANGS as posted, all cars do come from somewhere else originally. I texted and offered 700 for the car plus I paid to have it towed by a rollback (I did overbid on the car as he had about 110 people call on the car, so I locked the car in by making a higher offer via text, 38 minutes after he posted the ad on 12/11/17 Now as stated with purchase and tow were at 800, then the rims on the car didn't come with it, it came with rollers, I added a set of 16" ponies with almost new tires, also as stated in the original ad the back glass was busted, so I also purchased a replacement rear hatch with glass, total invested 1200. I listed the car a few weeks ago at a small loss to make space for my SVO and got nothing but alot of tire kickers. I pulled my original add and raised the price to my investment amount which I have the right to do. I bought the GT with intentions of making a project and to start learning how to paint, but then the SVO came along. So I placed the 83 GT and my DD Convertible GT up for sale to go towards the SVO restoration, (I still own a new toyota truck, I drove the convertible GT work about 2 times a week, I still call it a DD driver as I used it to keep miles down on my new truck. I have a thread here showing the progress of my SVO since I purchased and where it's going. I'm not going to post any further on this subject, it's my car and I have the right to do with it as I want and shouldn't have to justify myself to anyone, but I did so I hope this site can start to back off a little, I came here to talk to other members and gain insight into my new SVO, didn't intend to be backed into a corner feeling like I'm fighting off mike tyson. I have lived here is SC for 7 years and there has been no vehicle left my property that wasn't traded into a dealership replacing my previous daily driver until this 83 GT and again if it wasn't for the SVO it wouldn't be leaving. ONETRACKRIDER, keep your nasty opinions off my post, you know the 83GT hood is worth more than the 400 slight you sent at me, Teddy 1500, enjoyed our conversation, I did tell you that someone was coming to look at the car and I apologize for not returning your calls or messages, I had company for serveral hours after I got off the phone with you. I'll contact you tommorrow when I get to the office. FOXCHASSIS I'll try to get the door tag info to you tommorrow as well, trying to address everyone here, hope I didn't miss someone, but the interior color is gray and is factory and if not every single piece in this car has been changed before it was parked 15 years ago, to light grey, although the seats may have been a different color, so I almost 100% sure it's the original interior. SO THIS IS FACTUAL INFORMATION, IT IS AN 83 GT MUSTANG, IT IS A FACTORY T-TOP CAR AS STATED ON THE BUCKTAG AND IT HAS GREY ORIGINAL INTERIOR, IT IS ALSO A 4SPD CAR AS IT WAS AN EARLY PRODUCTION MODEL AND I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE FOR THE CAR.

As you can see the door and buck tags dont match. I assume the buck tag is original to the car and the door is from a later 1983 9D T-roof GT. What is the VIN on the dash?

FYI: There was no "Grey" interior in 1983. There was Black or Red in the GT, and also Blue or Walnut or White in others.

FoxChassis, I don't know for sure, but the car is in it's original paint, The bucktag on one corner was behind the hood lock mechanism on the radiator support and the door tag was on the drivers side door. I don't know about the tags not matching, find it strange that they would be different, this car has been sitting untouched where it was picked up from since 1998. But I guess it could have had a door replaced at some point in time. When I get home I will pull the title and post of pic of it on here, maybe that will answer the questions. Most of the stuff on both look similar to me, but then again, I don't know much about codes and so forth. I do know that I drove a red 1983 GT to my senior prom and it was red with the black trim and it had a full grey interior with halo seats, so I guess that car must have had the interior changed also. Maybe the carpet and seats and everything have just faded on this car, but the all the plastic pieces and the car headliner, which didn't have exposure to the sun is also grey, so I'm confused to say the least.

I will also check the VIN on the DASH and look at it on the Title. I'll try to post pics.

The door tag and the buck tag are from two different 1983 GTs but both had the same paint color and interior color, and both had a T-roof.

    door tag = 1FABP28F4DF200882
    buck tag = 1FABP28F3DF115628

    Default VIN and Title

Yep the VIN and Title both say 1FABP28F3DF115628, so Teddy1500 came by the house today and he said that it was original black interior and showed me the black from the headliner, just so crazy that people would change out so much to go from black to grey, but I guess If I had Porn Star Red in my car I would change it out. So I guess I understand.

I don't do this often, so here I go. I had a long talk with the seller, he comes across as very passionate about fox bodies. He seems to be honest, he doesn't act like most flippers I have met. He admits that he doesn't turn wrenches, but he thoroughly enjoy driving them. I remember the original ad for this car, it was only up for a few hours (by the time I first saw it). This 83 is fairly complete. It is however, it is a project. I didn't bother checking numbers, drivers side door has been replaced, as was the fender, it still has the 7.5, with the slapper bars. Floors are soft, need replaced, I would also put it on a frame machine, it's taken a hit in the front, lower radiator support needs work most panels, although straight, needs adjusting. The interior, it was black, now it is Gray. The only remaining black is part of the headliner, and a few t top specific parts. Overall, it is not a bad car, it has a lot of potential, and I don't think the seller tried to mislead, everything he told me is plausible. And everyone knows how quickly these things can snowball.

Well the steering wheel is 84-85 as is that grey interior so it seems likely they found a whole parts car or entire interior that was in better shape than the '83 original one was and began swapping it all out. Guess they lost interest when it came time to swap the dash. I would say more of these cars that are still around have been hit at some point then there are ones that have not. That would not scare me from a project. You just have to decide what it's worth to you. The Door Tag can be replaced with one that has the proper information as we all know. The seller isn't asking for opinions on value, therefore I will not comment on that part.

Terry1500, sorry was so busy yesterday, nice to know someone so close to me has the vast knowledge that you do regarding these cars. I do have a great knowledge of the Fox Body cars thru ownership, I've many of them and love driving them, but as you pointed out, not really a mechanic, I always wanted to be a fabricator and mechanic but it just wasn't in the cards, now not to say I haven't struggled around and changed a few clutches and replaced a few T-5's over the years, but beyond that, I can barely change a carb right, but I do enjoy tinkering, normally if I have a manual I'm not to dangerous, lol. You sure helped me explaining that headliner tuck where the sunroof is, think I might get my nerve up to tackle it this weekend.
