    Default Clutch/starter problem

    Car: '86 Mustang
    Engine: '94 Bronco 302
    Transmission: t5
    Bellhousing: Lakewood scatter shield

Problem: The car had a 10" clutch. I accidentally ordered a 10.5" clutch set. Once I realized the error I also bought the correct flywheel. The problem I now have is my starter does not bolt up. I checked part numbers for the current starter that was on the 10" flywheel vs a starter for a '94 Mustang 302. The '94 has a 10.5" clutch. Different part numbers for the 2 starters.

Question: Am I correct in thinking I need to get a starter for a '94 Mustang 302 or compatible donor?

    Thanks for any answers.

Does the Lakewood have a removable piece that allows a larger flywheel to be used, and it moves the starter out farther? The one I had did.

Not sure. I'd have to go under and look again. I don't remember seeing anything that could be removed. I could be wrong though.

A bronco should have an 11" clutch and 164t flywheel.

Which application did you order the clutch and scatter sheild for?
