I finally had the chance to pick up some metal tubing to make my rear end bracket for my engine stand. This will make rebuilding my 8.8 for my 82 GT and any others much easier.
I use an old weight bench to hold mine.

I'm almost done with wrapping my chrome trim in 3M carbon fiber vinyl. My chrome trim is dented and scratched beyond what I could repair. I wanted a dark trim, so I went the wrap route over painted since it's more forgiving.

Not a big PITA, but definitely takes longer than I thought it would. My biggest learning points were doing it in a warmer environment (I found out 40 degrees in the shop isn't easy) and the best way to wet it out. The DI-NOC is pretty forgiving thankfully as it has some texture to blend mistakes in. I doubt something like chrome would be as easy to work with.

    Default 5200 carb work

Have to go into details again as it may be of value to someone in the name of safety in the least.

Smelled fuel after shutdown for last few months. Front of car.
Noted slightly wet areas on carb body with dirt collection on carb and intake below it.
Determined fuel bowl gasket was seeping fuel. But why?
    Car was running fine.
Steady idle, rpm. MPG down guess 1-2. Very slight flat spot off idle. No stalls.
Leaking fuel anywhere is not acceptable.
Fire extinguisher is always behind d seat, absolutely desire it to stay unused.

Replaced fuel bowl to air horn gasket.
Decided to quick check everything inside carb.
Noticed fuel level was low in bowl. Why?
Recently found out float spec weight is 10g.
    Old one was 11g.
Replaced float, reset float level to spec.
Added yellow pipe tape to fuel inlet fitting.
Replaced screw type fuel hose clamp with spring type.

    Digging deeper:
Found hole in power valve. Thing was worn out big time.
    Replaced it.

Idle mix had not been right for a while either.
Could turn screw all the way in. Engine would still idle.
Pulling any vac line stalled engine. Normal.
After repairs, engine would not idle without accel pedal input. Uhoh.
Reset idle mix and idle rpm. Had to go up on both settings. Are within normal range of adj.
Was hoping that was all that was needed.
Good. Engine now stalled with mix screw too far in, as it should.
Test ride: Steady idle rpm 19" vac. No leaks, flat spot, gas smell.
    Time will tell more.

Update: Noticeably better mpg in the 20's some prob due to winter fuel mix in 60's outside temp.
Engine used to buck a little in 1st, 1000-1500 rpm in traffic. No more.
Gained back bottom end torque with carb work.

Went on a 50 mile cruise with the tops out and really FINE FINE FINE tuned the alignment in since I replaced the inner tie rods last month. It was close before but she is dead on now. Steering wheel is dead nuts straight.

Default door hinge pin backed itself up and out

Stopped at a store during a test drive.
Go to close the door. Wont latch. Bounce off.
Door was dropping down too far.
Started couple days ago. Figured it was simply frame twist on uneven ground.

WTH? Lower door pin backed out of the lower bushing somehow.
Was 1/2 way up to the top bushing.
    Both bushings intact.
Got out the ball peon and large screwdriver from the on board self rescue kit.
Pried and tapped pin back down.
5 minutes later went on my way.

Installed new RXT dual disc clutch as well as upgraded my Tremec 3550 to TKO specs. 31 spline main shaft, 26 spline input shaft as well as carbon fiber lined blocker rings on 2nd and 3rd gear. All back together and test drive went well. Even with the Nitto drag radials at 25lbs 3rd gear can roast the tires. Need some more break in miles before I take it back to the track.

Today I took my 17y/o daughter for some driving lessons. Had her do about 50 miles today. Lots of whining from her. Probably a couple more gray hairs for me.

A rare break from winter here in NE. Was in the 70's when is usually in the teens this time of year. Figures.... All the foxbody work was done or the parts aren't here for the next priority yet.

Last week when it was cold we welded in subframe connectors on my son's 86 GT ragtop and fixed a bad spot in the floor on mine.

any bets on the temps here when the fuel pump and fuel gauge finally show up from LMR?

I did start looking at acreage lots. Thinking of having a new house built along with a new outbuilding for a shop.

My latest thought for getting my car done after the mechanicals are solved is to have the structural stuff like torque boxes and frame rails and floors redone by a shop then do the rest of the bodywork like burning in new quarter panels and swapping doors and fenders at home.

Taught my 17 year old son how to drop a fuel tank and replace a fuel pump. Also gauge sending unit.

Taught him where to find diagrams, what fusible links are, and what to look for when checking fusible links.

Next in the preventative maintenance schedule will be to pull the plugs and teach him how to read them.

His car might have 24lb injectors and a cobra based MAF conversion in its future. Either a plug is faulty or fouling up. The car is down 3-4 mpg and it seems like one injector may be going out on the passenger bank. No sense in staying with 19's when 6 hole 24's have better atomization and give room for upgrades up to 400 HP at the crank....

Stupid part is my 86 with 440K+ has the original injectors and they all still work perfectly. Meanwhile a car of the same year with 110K has injectors acting up. I guess it stresses the importance of running a good fuel injector cleaner through it every 1500 miles over the life of the car.

Installed new poly trans mount and u-joints. Discovered my 1 year old Griffin radiator is leaking near the upper hose....again. 3rd Griffin to do this in 4 years. They won't cover it, time to find a different radiator.

USA made didn't hold up, maybe time for a Mishimoto?

I put on some new dew wipes recently, which I put on my build thread. My compressor motor died on me, so I picked up a battery powered impact gun. I tinkered with it this weekend and put a 275 on the front of my coupe to see what it would look like. I also changed the door hinge pins on the passenger side door.
