Plastidip'd the center of the hood. Not perfect but better than the paint underneath.

Added a little peace of mind just in case I'm not a master carb rebuilder. Zip-tied the mounting bracket to the seat bracket since the Velcro wouldn't work on my carpet.
She seemed to do well on today's day-care run and a trip to town and back. Oh I also slapped a bitchin UF sticker on my back window because Go Gators, that's why.

Yeah, it was pretty random. I have been having a fueling issue I've been working on that arises before I even get to fourth under power, so it's not like I've been beating on that gear. The backup trans swap went smoothly and it's behaving a lot better. I think I have to look at the rail selector finger in the old trans as well, just didn't feel right. Didn't want to go into 1st or reverse.

Messed around adjusting my carb a little. What do you guys set your idle at? When I bought the car it idled around 5-600 and I just never messed with it. Today I set it around 800-900 and it seems happier especially after I leaned it out a little. Any thoughts there?

79 2.3T 1000 rpm, 19+ or so vac. Both rock steady once warmed up.
If a large ele load like winter night time, rain, defog, stereo, may go down to 900.
Carb gets minor adjustments seasonally as needed. Fuel blend change i suppose.

    Anyway, in process:
Annual September bodywork and overall maintenance.
First, rust spots, panel paint while weather is moderate.
Using fresh Bondo Gold is like frosting a cake. Bondo Glass for the small rustouts.
Diablo hook/loop 5" 80-120 for the plastic 220-400 for paint prep. Ryobi 18v random orbit sander.
Lacquer. Spray can primers, quart of Dupli-Color Jet Black then Dupli-Color Clear.
This time allowing more time between steps than prior years.
No more one day quick jobs or heavy handed sanding.
No show car finish, just inexpensive respectable shine.

Changed out the positive and block ground cables from the battery as they were completely rotted. Now troubleshooting a no power problem to the power windows.

Why YES I did! The ride was much pretty rough! I think it might need new shocks and struts! I brought 4 decent wheels and tires, had those swapped and on the trailer in less than 45 minutes and head to my shop with it after that!

I still can't believe it actually worked out. I specifically didn't post anything here on FEP until the $$ had changed hands and I picked it up! I was too worried about jinxing myself!

It is 5C, mostly original paint. There are a few spots that have been poorly touched up and a few more spots that need to be touched up. It's not too pretty that I'm afraid to drive it at least haha.

I finally finished installing my new stock intake manifold (right code for my car) and connected my vintage air. Now just waiting to get my air conditioning gauge from my buddy to charge the system so I can see if this AC works.

I really like the color too... I took her out for pizza this evening. It's practically fall here already so it's almost time for hibernation. I have more pictures, I'll have to start a member's ride thread for this one.

I like it! Here's an older pic of mine:

For things I did today to it... Got a warranty replacement Edelbrock 1725 fuel pump being sent to me since the one I just put on it isn't keeping up with the fuel demands.

Favorite thing I’ve said that’s been requoted: “"40 year old beercan on wheels with too much motor"

    My four eyed foxes:
"Trigger" - 86 Mustang GT - Black with red interior. 5.0 T5 built as Z. Original motor ~1/2 million miles. 18 yr daily, 10 a toy
"Silver" - 85 Mustang Saleen 1985-006? (Lol) Rare 1E silver GT / charcoal interior. The car is a little bit of a mystery. Current project bought as a roller, tons of Saleen / Racecraft pedigree

Also in the stable - my son’s car. 1986 Mustang GT Convertible. Black/Black/Black conversion. 93 leather. VM1 ECU. T5Z

    past foxes -
1989 Mustang LX Sport 5.0 AOD white/tan black top. Once I ran this one down I caught a wife.
