Drove her to work, found a Pro5.0 shifter on Craigslist, and installed it instead of packing/preparing for my trip tonight.
At this point I think I'm just looking for stuff to do to procrastinate on doing the window guide rollers.

Getting her prepared for the upcoming Annual Mustang Show this Sunday.

I will have to get creative and figure out how to get it passed in the stock class. Limited to 3 or less mods to enter and they can be kinda funky with their interpretations sometimes.

Threw some welds on my 85 build - just for now. The suspension setup has this ol gal just about on the ground. Should handle well after it's built.

Finally replaced the warped rear bumper on my 84 GT with one from an 84 SVO. New paint and pinstripes. I put a new support in too. Those of you with 79-84s know how difficult it is to find them. Not perfect, but way better. Thanks Mike!

Welded in some Maximum Motorsports sub frame connectors. Welded the torque boxes while I was down there.

May attempt to spot paint car.
If it ever cools down. Prob early in the morning is best shot.
    Sun will bake it good.

Got the folding sun shade in place, rolled down its windows.
Was like an oven inside the car at 10am. Can't touch the black paint.

Going outside when temp cools down.

Near record heat this weekend. High 80's-90, no wind. 65-70 nights.
-After putting up the window a/c's and changing west wall side door full screen for the glass insert weeks ago.

Got out the box fans to move some air in here.

Man, you don't live around north Florida, do you? I need to find someone I trust to weld in some subframe connectors.

should be all done by the end of this week.
Also if you look at the workshop photo you might find it difficult to believe the garage is in Switzerland
People who say it cannot be done should not get in the way of the people doing it!

Took my black 86 GT (Trigger) out for a drive last night which almost always starts by dumping in a quart of oil. Ran it through the gears a few times. The 2.73's gotta go but the are entertaining. What other car lets you pull 2nd at 60 and 3rd at 87. I've come to love rapping that ol mildly cammed 5.0 with induction and headers up -- it goes willingly past 6100 and really pulls 4500-6100. Had a blast.

Let the kid drive my ol gal. Can only imagine his excitement having grown up from newborn on riding in a car seat in back. he's had his own 86GT conv for 15 months and his is darn quick with my VM1 and the T5Z and light flywheel and timing advance, etc, so I felt like it was time. At the rate trigger is rusting it won't be driveable much longer without a complete tear down and redo.

It really impressed me as a passenger- I haven't been just a passenger in it for over 7 years. Let him turn a few corners-- etc. it really cemented the value of all the mods. Very little body roll, way more acceleration than it had when I started, super brakes, etc. That's when I realized just how many parts I've added to it since the last time I simply rode in it!

The kid was blown away by the differences between my car and his in stock form. For him it was way more evident from the drivers seat and he was really impressed. Still things that can be improved but quite a deal. If it weren't so rusty and worn it would be an outstanding daily how it is now.

i keep trying to talk my dad into buying another 63 Nova SS and building it like the one he had when he was young. Unfortunately he totaled his first real love of a car. I've always wanted to drive one done up exactly like his car. That just might be an upcoming project after the Saleen build.

Took it to the Annual Mustang Show here in Omaha for the second year in a row. Final results were the same as last year....4 cars in the class (74-86), 3 trophies and I walked away empty handed again.

I must be unpopular around this part of the country, because I thought the car showed very well and much better than last year.

I was able to get one of the rear fenders on my widebody kit mounted on Friday night. I still need to trim away the inner metal and work on the fuel door opening.

Brock - your car looks absolutely great. For whatever reason four eyed foxes get the less than Mustang II treatment around here pretty frequently. Especially at the MCO events I've been a part of. It's just a different crowd for sure.

No that is a Maier Racing 3" Fiberglass flared rear quarter panel. He is installing the entire kit including front fenders.

Well crap, when I had the console off I must have done something to my brake lights. Could it be as simple as a connector? What am I looking for here?

Edit: so I've been doing some research and it looks like the brake lights go trough the multifunction switch (which I replaced last week). Think I'll start there and see where we're at. Tail lights and turn signals work fine.

Figured out where my coolant was going. The feed to the turbo wasn't close to being tight. Of course I was focused on the idea that it was the bottom (turbo to block) that was leaking and all the contortions to get to those hoses, only to find it was the pipe on the top that I didn't need to talk the wheels off to get to. Doh!

They went to smaller rack bolts in 1985.

After I did this I checked my 88 shop manual and it listed the bolt torque at 80 to 100 ft/lbs too. What would you torque it to? I am thinking 60 - 70lb/ft.

    Thanks, Mike

2,000 trouble free miles so far which is amazing with everything that happened over the winter.

Now the question is.....will it make it the 2,400 mile roundtrip to attend Foxtoberfest???
