On way home from car show, dusk.
    Turned headlights on.
    Graphic display LED lit.
At first, looked like low fuel. But at 1/4 tank?
Closer look indicated running light outage.

    Pulled into nearby parking lot.
Ah Ha pass side tailight, innermost bulb inop.
Opened hatch. Pushed back trim panel. Wiggled the bulb connector.
Taillight bulb lit. LED went out.
What a great item that display is. And after almost 40 years of operation. 40? sheesh.

I am about to swap the pedal assemblies from a 4-cylinder set to the later model V8 set. I took a little time to disassemble the V8 set, paint the bare meta, then reassemble with a little grease. They came out pretty nice (but I'm biased).

Sunday we replaced the terrible and overpriced failsafe theremostat with a normal but new one on my sons 86.

We also started chasing a shake/vibration problem at speed.

Verified the front wheel bearings are ok.... brakes are nearly shot but they will wait as nobody has decent pads on hand.

Found some rear lugs not torqued properly.

We were zombie tired when we put the T5Z in. Driveshaft was not on flange quite properly -- there was crap in the center of the flange where it connects to the pinion flange.

Cleaned it up after nearly busting up my face and teeth.... the shaft was stuck on. it slipped out of my hand as it finally released. Ended up with a deep bruise on my nose, a sore lip and tooth, and a sore chin. Oh and a terrible headache. Lucky!

At this point it's either the front U joint on the driveshaft or the T5Z tail bushing.

Pulled the tank out of my 82 RS to verify that I need to replace it. Verified the sending unit works . . . well mostly.

Removed a cloth seat with a broken seat base. Only other seats i have, don't have the mini console that attaches to the seat. Got to drill a bunch of holes, add some wiring, remove the ashtray slider and added a center stack mounted cigarette lighter. Drilled a bunch of holes in the floor to mount the console, cut away carpet to mount it, blew the interior light fuse on accident shifting two wires, then fixed that. Added console obviously, then ran all my charging cables and dash cam stuff underneath. Spent about two hours wiping everything that was dusty down, still gotta vacuum out the inside.

Now i have a silver dash plate, with a wood grain center stack around the radio, a dark blue leather gt style seat (only shortcut i took, didn't wire up the inflatable part, i never use it) a dark red console with a regular red lid, a brown sun visor and the rest of the original grey cloth interior.

Default parts gathering from a salvage 79 capri

Gave the Cobra a rest today. Drove the Ranger. Beautiful weather day.
Having fun driving the truck again since installing a new Core Hurst shifter.
Out and about doing errands and taking care of car repair items across town.

Pete's Auto Upholstery & Trim Taylor, MI.
    Main stop of the day.
Had Mustang's Procar/Scat vinyl drivers seat bottom middle seam resewn.
Was gonna do it. Glad i did not. Let the pros do it.
Got there at the right time. Was quickly sewn as i waited! Double stitched.
Great people, perfect job. Highly recommend.

Cannot pass this u pick yard without a visit, when time allows.

Found a 79 Capri. And one of decent shape.
4cyl 4sp non-rs regular hatchback burgundy interior, no console.

    Snagged an antenna assy (no mast);
And a very good rear hatch rubber weatherstrip.
Could not see any rust on either front frame rail, in or out. Amazing. Great donor car.
Ft bumper and cover, side moldings, windshield, door trim panels, were taken.
    Decent doors, side glass.
Dash intact. Lots of velcro on dash top like for a cover.

Reduced Holley's idle air bleed diameters 0.005", to counter what seems to be "winter" fuel (ever so slight "trailer hitching" (lean - speeding up, slowing down, at steady light throttle application)) at the gas stations already...

May get more fuel mileage due to easier evap of fall fuel blend and warm weather.

Set of 16 X 7 Enkei Mesh Wheels in Silver. They need some polishing of the hoops, maybe some paint on the centers, but they are straight, true, and no curb rash. Should look pretty sweet on the Capri!

Dammit. I've been looking for some of those since I bought my four-eye. They don't exactly show up on my Craigslist everyday...

I was able to work on a lot over the last week as I took a week of from work and got to work in the garage a little every day. I recovered my '92 parcel shelf in black (was done in gray previously), working on the taillight resoration at the moment, started tinkering with the widebody kit, completed the Boom Mat install on the floor and laid out all my wiring harnesses. I need to remove all the unneeded circuits in the '80 and '92 harnesses to get down to a slim harness for all (combining both into one).
