Went racing! Local test and tune day. Yesterday was a big Pro-Mod event so the track was still in great shape. I finally managed to break into the 6's with a 6.992 @ 100.64 mph with a 60' of 1.432 seconds. Not bad for a car that I drove 40 miles to the track, changed the tires, ran, and then drove back home.

Went to go look at the touch up paint job I laid down 2 weeks ago on the 85. Wanted to drive it out into the sun and take some pics but my 2 year warranty battery is 6 years old and dead. So had to get another battery. The paint looked OK inside the garage but will need some buff'n! Have till the end of the month to get her out of the garage I'm borrowing.....

Launch around 4K, shift at 6200. Through the traps in 3rd around 6500-6600. If I shift to 4th I lose a few tenths.

Found the keys, old faithful recliner ate them. I think that has a hidden meaning... Been having a run of luck with keys this week. Locked the keys in my daily Tuesday. Needed to move the 84 tonight and no keys.

I finally had nice enough weather to open the roll-up doors and get the engine and transmission out and the rest of the fuel system. Time to invest in a few cans of degreaser and get this notchback cleaned up.

    Your coupe looks awesome Scotty!

Today I spent some time in the garage mainly wet sanding on the 82. Started a bit of buffing but still a long way to go....

Changed the ~22 year old FMS adjustable clutch cable in the '85 Hatch, that was down to the last 3 strands at
the release fork end. I'm blaming the dry pivot ball... The M-7553-C302 service replacement cable fits perfectly,
and feels great. Also chased down a small coolant leak.
    Cheers,
    Jeff Cook

    Default ds visor mod time

Pass side visor magnet experiment passed the test. Stays in correct stowed position all the time.
So added another super magnet array to drivers side visor.

Been a while since seeing both visors even, tucked back up to the headliner, and 'parallel' distance from the upper ws trim molding.
Both were down about 1". Pass side used to move away from correct stowed position.
The trim molding clearly frames the upper ws again.

No shimming of springs, brackets, or re-bending of anything. Headliner cloth is smooth and secure.
Total cost for both visor magnet arrays 8.50.
Removed upper ws trim, inserted magnets, reinstalled trim. No tools, glue, etc.
Used center map light housing and visor ends as reference points for duplicating magnet position.

Bonus is when flipping down, the visors stay on the magnets as if they were hinged.
