    Default What are these pieces?

    When removing the door panels, window regulators and glass, I found these floating around in the very bottom of the doors.

    What are they and where do they go? Anyone know?

    They are plastic caps that fit on the door latch assembly.

    I believe they were kind of a anit-theft item to deter slim jimming the lock assembly, but I could be wrong. I generally just leave them off as they make it more difficult to attach all the lock rods when assembling the doors.

    Thanks Trey. I figured it was something I really didn't need, seeming how they were laying in the bottom of both doors. I just wanted to make sure before I chucked them in the pile.

    I have taken a few cars apart that the pieces were still intact and on the latch assembly, but most seems to be at the bottom of the doors or barely hanging on, so I just chunk them myself.

    I agree with chucking them. My car has enough rattles as it is without the standard Ford extra parts floating around in the bottom of the doors.
