    Default 3D Printed Mustang Gear

I am working on a new project of mine. I am making a 3D printable iPhone 6/6S case that is sporting the 5.0 badge. I have one printed now, and it's pretty good for a first try.Name: image1.jpeg

My end goal is to smooth out the back (the tape on the heated bed was bad, and I dont think the table was level) and then switch filament to do white numbers and a red decimal.

I drew up the case, and then traced a picture of my badge in Autodesk Inventor, imported both to 3D builder and did a subtract extrusion. One of it's biggest problems now is the middle of the 0 (my mistake) was disconnected so it is currently thumb tacked into place

If anyone is interested in anything I throw on here. I can start attaching the .stl files that way anyone with a 3D printer can print it?!

Center caps is a great idea - they get so brittle over time....

    Lol
My son does this for a living, in commercial use with very expensive printers it can easily be done. As for home use, quality will take some time. Think of the old dot matrix printer compared to lasers today. We are in the dot matrix world of the 3D printers

My dad built his first printer about 5 years ago using stuff from home depot and stepper motors out of an old printer. The technology is there, people just really dont understand the limitations and really know how to work around them.

We have been building custom and replacement plastic pieces on his printers for quite a few years now. We use carbon fiber arrow shafts, and they break before the plastic does. There really is quite a bit that a 3d printer can do well.

To the op, what sort of printer do you have and is it pla or abs plastic, and what is the filament and extrusion size? Just curious. In guessing abs since you mentioned the heated build platform.

This was printed in PLA on a Makerbot my school has. I've printed another one that turned out a lot better now. I has white numbers that glow in the dark blue, and I colored in the decimal point. I'm not sure what settings it was printed at, I believe just default XD. I'm looking at buying an Anet A8 soon, that will help me learn.

Here a video of my dads first setup, just for fun. We since really increased the quality and speed. My dad does a bit of narration on it, I dont remeber why.
He has several different styles now, I'll see if I can get some info for ya from him.

My Anet A8 was supposed to be here almost a week ago. I have a couple shifter knobs I designed I wouldn't mind printing and see how they turn out....

Nice! Been 3d printing for a few years now. Addicted. I have a ton of RC car parts going.

But guys hit me up - I'm up for a project!

Some of the stuff I've done!

    AC Knobs!

    SVO Bi-wing support

Vacuum tree - A bit more expensive than other re-pops but was fun to make...

GoPro extension (I have a non-Capri version too)

    GoPro belt mount...

Here is a 3d Printed rear control arm for an RC10 - also shown with a 3d printed stainless steel dogbone (shown in the middle - the top is a stock RC10 truck control arm and dogbone - bottom is stock buggy control arm) This setup has seen 69mph so far.

Hey Mike that looks great! But is there anyway to get this script in the pic on the cover with svo under it instead of the marchal logo? If it helps I can do a scetch.

I'd REALLY like to see a 3D printed LTD LX/Marquis LTS floor console plate. It's easier to find a Marquis LTS than it is to find an unbroken floor console plate .
1985 Mercury Marquis LTS... "The Unicorn"
    1978 Fairmont... 306 and a C4.
