Default 3 Spoke steering wheel: Cougar vs Mustang?

I was cruising ebay and came across a steering wheel:

    Name: s-l225.jpg

Size: 11.9 KB

Listed as "1984 mercury cougar steering wheel fits 1979-1986 OEM ford".

Was a decent price and the three sport look I wanted, so I grabbed it.

It's got a cougar symbol in the middle, but I figured that didn't matter since it will get a fresh leather recovering anyways. I also thought of putting a tri-bar pony in the cougar circle.

I'll have to move my cruise buttons down into the console, but that's no big as my power window/lock buttons are already going down there in a custom panel.

But now I'm wondering if (seeing the cougar is a bit more "luxury upscale") the wheel is a bigger diameter than the mustang wheels and if my good deal might not have been as good as I thought it was.

    Anyone know?

Same size as mustang wheel or bigger?

97% sure Mustangs got this same wheel if they didnt have cruise control.

Looks more like a capri wheel to me, but they had the same logo as the cougar.

Pretty much all fox wheels are the same, just different horn buttons.

Sounds like you are going all custom anyway so who cares? If you got a good deal on it just roll with it!

As stated above, the 3 spoke steering wheel was the same between the Capri and the Mustang.

The horn pads were the same except for the center emblem. The one above is a Capri and the Mustang got the Ford Oval emblem.

Both will interchange as needed. Good Luck!

I will trade you a ford horn pad + cash for that mercury horn pad.
owner of the 666th mercury produced in 1983.......neat fact! black on black 5.0 t-5 capri with no other options but fishnet seats.....coincidence.......perhaps
