Default Looking for Wiring advice - to stock 84 head unit

Hi folks. I'm ready to start modifying my Predator's sound system but I've got a big constraint in that I cannot pull the stock original head unit. There is a nifty new Bluetooth product that will intercept the speaker signals but I'm also aware that the 84 uses a common ground system and its tied into the stock AMP. Any thoughts on how to approach this? I will be running new speaker wire and using an under seat amp.

This is the Blue Tooth interceptor - pretty obvious how it works. Basically I need to know if it is possible to bypass the stock amp and use the head unit as a floating ground unit? Meaning a dedicated ground to each speaker...

I'm confused...in your other thread from today the stock HU is out and you put a Clarion DIN unit in?

I wouldn't say completely dead, but you are correct that activity has gone way down the past 1-2 years. Not just this forum...its across the board with other forums, and I think Facebook groups are the biggest culprit.

I'm on the FB counterpart and yes there is activity but some of the older, experience members are here and tend to have a ton of obscure info. The more I look into this though the more I'm inclined to pull and store the stock head unit. I've got to run new speaker wire anyway. I might as well get a nice RetroSound dual knob head unit. Expensive, but they look amazing and the reviews are excellent (unlike CustomAutoSound). For the record I tried calling the above company and their phone contact was disconnected. Not an encouraging sign to say the least.

That was going to be my suggestion until I saw you wanted to run all new wire but keep the factory head unit. I agree on the RetroSound twin post unit....a buddy of mine just put one in his 65 Mustang Covertible and loves it.

Do you know if he is running it with an amp? I'm thinking the same for my 65 but I don't know what kind of clearance I have under the 65 seats.

I'm not certain....I think he added one of those small amp/sub units that fits under the seat. The main speakers are just off the head unit.
