Default 99 Dodge RAM 1500 has poor air flow in HVAC

My son has a Dodge RAM 1500 and he just changed the blower motor and resistor in the truck. Now the air flow coming through the vents is almost nothing.

The blower motor is working and does change speed with each click on the low-med-hi settings so its not a bad resistor or motor. Holding the motor outside the HVAC box it seems to throw a lot of air, but once installed nothing makes it through the vents.

the vacuum actuated door is opening and closing so Im stumped. What could it be?

You are experiencing a VERY common problem with Dodge trucks of that vintage. You have a broken air flow door or doors in your heater A/C box. I believe there are 3 doors in the heat A/C box.

Search the web for explanation of the problem, videos showing the problem and how to diagnose, repair or replace the broken doors. There are several vendors that offer upgraded doors to solve the problem although somewhat pricey. The plastic doors break at the pivot point therefore will no longer move to the correct position as needed ultimately blocking air flow out of the heater A/C box.

I saw a few posts about the inner door but we don't see it looking up into the HVAC box. Does the dash have to come off to address this?

No it does not depending upon which door is broken.
