    Default 3.3 mustang exhaust system

This may sound crazy but after 15 years of a header with with dual exhaust im looking at taking back to original. Ive managed to gather up all my CA emission system and rebuild it. I found a manifold with the first cat along with and the factory 2nd cat with all the heat shields. I even found all the correct factory hangers. But now I have hit a snag. Im looking for the rest of the system and haven't been able to find it as a bolt system. I was told by Walker exhaust systems that the fairmont was different than the mustangs so and they dont offer any for my year of mustang. Just kinda wondering if there is anything that is bolt on left out there?

Good boy on your new old cats!

The stock iron header and primary and secondary cat 80-82 B and 1983 X code exhaust is not restrictive if its substrate is in good shape. Ford redid the whole primary cast iron header part for one reason, emmisions light off, and a corollary to it was the extra 2 to 7 hp and a similar amount of torque compared to the 1972 to 1979 engines.

Its "weirdness" is covered by a tin hat just like the 1980 to 1982 4.2's and 1982 to 1987 CFI 3.8, and 2V 5.0 GT manifold's were so you don't see what strange stuff is under it.

The strange, but the ginormus 4-1/4" outlet header 3.3 liter in line six primary exhaust had literally no backpressure unless someone had fiiled it with Avagas or Leaded fuel.

    Getting to the business end.

The Fairmont is a Mustang without 5 1/8 inches taken out between the the axle kick and (what is on in line 1980 to 1983 Fox sixes the second) cat. The tail pipe or pipes require a similar amount of extension to clear the increased departure length.

Or an S shell 1983 to 1988 T bird or Cougar with appprox 4" taken out of the mid section, but the right tail pipe over hang.

So a reweld and a few inches of extra pipe, and your done. Remember, the Fox platform was a modular "Little John" peasant platform, put on a rack, and made very long..

    "Ha ha ha

    He he he

    My name is little John.

The Sherif put me in a rack

    And now I'm very long"

100.4, 104.3, 105.5, 108.4, and then 101.2" wheelbases, with the rear end overhang and fuel tank spacings the changes. The Mustang and Capri tanks were cut back almost

    I've been under Fox 4's, the SN95.

The whole exhaust has similar kick back postions, with an extra 13/16" of forward extension from the front center line.

Everything aftermarket opts for dual exhausts, so I'd look to something like this, and do the dual exhaust swap and have the brake line updated as well.

Tank wise, the early pre F2C tanks gve you a heap of space to wrangle any kind of exhaust system you care for.

Don't know what year Mustang you are working on, but I bought my whole exhaust system online from AutoZone.
This was for a Zephyr with a 3.3. Here is a link to a Mustang pipe. They have other stuff too.
